Default Dirty Bird double size scuttle

I've been kickin around the idea of getting a DB scuttle and I saw that she now has the double size scuttle on the website. I like to build lather in a bowl, and I have 2 brushes; a kent bk8 and a rooney stubby 2. I'm wondering if it is too big though? The website says that it holds 44oz of water! Do any of you gents own one of these that can shed some light on it for me?

I just ordered one last week, and I'll find out. Meanwhile, near the top right of the forums pages, click on the "Search" button and enter, "Dirty Bird". You'll find plenty of write-ups about it.

Right, I am familliar with the search bar, but I was hoping for some additional input about the double size. I see plenty of stuff about the standard or the custom 1.5 that some have ordered, but not a lot on the double, except possible one entry in the reviews section. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

44 oz.s is a ton of water I'm sure it would stay hot longer but it would also take a while to heat up in the morning.

I just got the 1.5X and it holds about 30 ounces of water. It is really nice quality and it is plenty big enough to make a lather and keeps it nice and warm when preheated. You can see a picture below, along with a brush, so you can get an idea of the size. I really cannot imagine getting the 2X size.

I have used it only twice so far -- once with tap water and the temp was good and once with water heated in the microwave and it was great.

To be honest, I fell in love with my shaving bowl before the scuttle arrived and I am not sure if I am going to keep it long term or not. Using the shaving bowl, I hold it in one hand and the brush with the other, but with the scuttle, you have to leave it on the counter.

I will hang onto it until I am eligable to use the BST foum and then think about a trade.

interesting. I was thinking that if I got the 2x one it would lose some heat retention, and would be too cumbersome. Still not sure. The DB is something I'm definitely looking into getting though.

What are the specs on the 1.5? And how much did it cost?

The cost for the 1.5X was $54. The inner bowl is 4 3/8" wide at the top and 2 1/2" deep.

What about pulling out the inner piece to hold while building your lather and dropping int into the other half when needed?

The standard size is more than big enough for me. Unless I was shaving a army, I cant see a double size in my future
