Great collection you've got there. And your pics look fine.

Use whatever camera you like, no matter how crap it is. There are no rules about which camera you should use on here.

To say that there is one Fat Boy or Slim or SS that shaves better than the other would not be accurate or fair. I have chosen these three models for their craftmanship, durability and the great quality of the shaves I get. I shave with all these razors. I have my travel razors and my home razors therefore they all get use. My latest addition and addiction is that Shumate 5/8 at the top of the pic. She is feeling kind of lonely waiting for her sister to arrive from overseas. But soon enough she will have company and plenty of it.
I think each of these models have it's own greater quality, I love the heft and feel of the Fat Boy. I love the balance of the Slim and I love the feel of the SS's. Then there's the Slant. I have nothing but respect for that razor. It could be the best shave or your worst. If you treat her with respect she will reward you time and time again with great shaves.

I am still learning to shave with the straight to have a fair assesment but I'll say this much, what a feeling to have that sharp blade shaving your face. What a challenge!! it demands total concentration but the results are worth it.

So to answer the question no preference I enjoy them all.

Great answer! I am going the opposite direction of you -- from straight to DE. I have a '63 Gillette SS that I've been using, and am enjoying it. A few more DEs are in at this time with a couple others enroute. With shaving as a hobby, you can learn to enjoy the subtle differences and similarities of all the designs!

I hope your second straight provides you with as much enjoyment as the Shumate (another good shaver BTW).

    Hey Scorpio,

Nice photos nice stash of razors and creams. I wish I had a collection of creams etc. like you do. But buying 'em is half the fun! Now look what I did. I've got to go buy a whole new keyboard.

    Raf,
I noticed you had quite a few of the same razors. Is there a big date range of when they were made and do you notice any differences between the years of make? Just curious.

Very, Very, nice collection by the way.

Thanks Bear. I really don't see them as a collection since I use them all but I guess they could be called a collection. Some of the Fat Boys are years apart as well as the Slims. I think there are a couple of the Slims that are very close maybe one quarter apart. I do not see much difference in the shaving per se within one model. I just like the shave I get from them and if I find a nice piece I try to get it. For the most part I have them separated in a group that I keep at the house and another group that I use when I travel that way I keep the consistency in the shave regardless of where I am. Half of the Slims and half of the FB's are travel razors. I keep the SS's and the Slant at home as well as my Shumate 5/8. Then I have a couple of Fatboys that are very nice and minty that I use every now and then. Right now I am using the straight every other day so I can learn to master the technique and the shave and so far so good. Takes a while with straights so patience is a virtue.
