Is the gillette new considered a tech or something else? Are all three piece razors techs?

Welcome aboard B&B, neighbor! The Gillette New is a specific model in itself. It was introduced in 1929 and was manufactured throughout the 1930's. It was replaced as the standard three piece by the Tech in 1938.

Nope. All Tech are three piece, but not all three piece Gillettes are Techs. Other than the Techs and News there were the Old Types around from 1903-1929, the New Improved Gillettes which ran from 1921-1929 and the Goodwills which were made in 1931.
