    Default Suggest a Grill?

I'm considering getting a propane gas grill. Something no bigger than a three burner. Any suggestions from our esteemed members?

I am a fan of the MHP brand, but Weber has great service and is a good product,if you do get a Weber go with the stainless steel guts.

Weber. I've had two for the last 20 years. They work great, they last, and they can be easily maintained. Most important, they make your meat taste great!

    Enjoy!

There are some great grills on the market comparable to Weber, but, that being said if I had to replace my 20 year old Weber it would be with another Weber. They do require some cleaning/maintenance but for the most part it's fast and painless and ordering parts is a breeze. As suggested by other posters go with the SS guts,I didn't and wound up fabricating my own.

Ok, I checked out the Webers and they appear to be the Cadillacs of the grills, and the MHP Scottsdales the Lexus/Infiniti versions. They are well done, and have a lot of nice touches, but much more than I can afford at this time.

Let's sat I'm looking for something more plebeian, like the equivalent of a Honda, Toyota, or Subaru. It is not a big yard, which is another consideration, and we can't have the grill taking it all up.

    Lou,
Just a suggestion, check craigslist for a used Weber, they come up all the time and parts are easy to get. I recently got a 12 year old Performer off Craigslist that I am doing a frame off rebuild on.

BBQparts.com or weber.com are two sources.

+1 more on the Weber. Their customer service is excellent. I bought a floor model a couple of years ago at a local hardware store. The price was VERY good, a couple of hundred off. They had just received a whole bunch of new inventory and this one had sat there since the previous season. It had a couple of scratches in insignificant places and one broken wheel. A quick call to Weber and a new wheel was on the way free of charge. Got it two days later.

I have a three burner Kenmore from Sears, with side burner, and love it. It's stainless and blue enameled steel (also comes in red, white, and all stainless). Ran about $299 on sale and grills like a champ.

Get a cheap char broil grill for now. That gets you grilling right away for around $100 and It'll last a few seasons.

There are other grills out there that are excellent also, but be careful as to the quality. A lot of the cheap ones will only last a couple of years and then you're back to square one. Take a look a the Weber website. There's a section in there that describes what to look for when buying a grill. Give the grill a good shake. It should feel solid.

The Weber Genesis is fairly reasonable.

I had a Weber propane for about 12years. Had to retrofit it twice as the fed mandated propane connections kept changing. Had to replace rotted wood slats on the holding trays. But the metal box was in perfect condition. The black tubular frame was also pristine. Loved this grill. Last year some SOB stole it from my back porch. After reviewing what was on the market I replaced it with a smaller 3 burner Weber. I never used the old wood smoker attachment. I miss not having a side burner. New grill now sports a lock and chain.

Buy the smallest Weber---from Home Depot. It is a two burner model that takes up hardly any space at all. As an added bonus, the Webers HD sells have cast iron grills, which are better (IMHO) than the ceramic grills that they offer on their BBQs.

Thank you for all the information. The Weber was just too much money, even at big box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot.

Considering everything, I opted for a Sears Kenmore 3 Burner, which with all the discounts applied came to less than $200. If it lasts 5 years, I'm happy.
