Angry Is anobody else fed up with the IRS

Or am I the only the only one? last Week being tax week, I had to for over 7 grand, and then got another letter from an audit saying that I owe a little over 4600 for and thay want it buy may 14th. This is for the state of massachusetts wich I have been paying taxes to for the past 4 years, and have only spent about 3 months in that state.

I have ran around this country pulling a fifth wheel, and have worked in Alabama, New orleans after katrina, Arizona, Idaho, utah, Las Vegas, then back to Boston, New Hampshire, conneticut, and back Vegas. They are auditing me for my mileage, and only accepting 1400 miles for both years. I worked in six of those states, and went across the country twice, in the two years that I am being audited for.

Nooooo, I love paying exorbitantly high taxes. Makes me feel important - or is that impotent?

Is this a fact or not. Do we as Americans pay the lowest tax rate among all Western Industrialized countries?

Doesn't everyone and I mean everyone cheat on their taxes ?

So why are the IRS such villains?

Well, I just had a surprise audit. Guess what, ten years ago, when I was 17 years old, the IRS refunded me too much money. I didn't know, and neither did they. Well, the 1800.00 that I thought was some sort of Clinton-esque reward for putting my self through school or something I now have to pay back, although the 1763.00 I owed has now inflated itself to almost seven thousand dollars.

The sad thing is that I don't have the money right now. Yep, as hard as it is for the IRS to believe, I just don't have an extra seven thousand dollars laying around. I told them that I would pay it back when my finances improved, but that wasn't good enough. They held my measly three hundred dollar refund. They started taking my paychecks. They came snooping around my property wanting to know where my car was (I'm taking a cab to work and hiding my car at my parents house.) The IRS has, I feel, gone too far in my case.

It's taken everything I have to keep from going to the IRS office and... [I'll let you fill in the blank, as it would possibly constitute a felony for me to say what I really want to do]. What's worse, is that I went to JK Harris to have them file for non-collectible status so that I can at least take home some of the money in my paycheck. On top of costing me 1,000 dollars, it has accomplished nothing. Before even being considered for non collectible status I have to provide work records going back to jobs that I had so long ago that I don't even remember working there. They want me to go to a carpet warehouse I worked at in Texas when I was 16 years old and have someone there sign something to the effect that I worked there at least thirty hours a week over eleven years ago... WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had it. I've never been a tax cheat. I'm probably one of the most honest people in the world when it comes to a 10-40 form. But this... there's no excuse. These f**kers are ruining my life, and I pray to God that I'm home the next time some weasel comes snooping around my property looking for something to take away. I never thought anything bad about the IRS until this incident. Now I pray that everyone involved in my case falls into the same sort of BS that they put me through. I hope they one day realize how horrible and despicable an agency they are, and may they cease to exist in our future. May the IRS rot and burn in Hell, and may our children and our children's children grow up in a future that is free of the evil that is the IRS.

You know, we keep hearing about all the psychological torture that the CIA inflicted upon foreign terrorists, but what about the domestic terrorists at the IRS that inflict psychological torture on millions of decent Americans day in and day out? What about these useless sacks of dung that make more money than I do to answer a damned phone and speak with the literacy of a retarded third grader? "You gots to send in some mo' clearer papers regarding your work history from back when you was a school student". That's an actual quote I have saved on my answering machine by some idiot at the IRS that wants me to hire a private detective to track down the manager at the hamburger stand I worked at when I was fifteen that burned down about ten years ago.

I hope, and I pray that my eyes see the birth of a sovereign state on American soil, maybe Texas, maybe anywhere, that is free from the shackles of an ineffective, Unamerican, useless, ignorant, and bureaucratically run government that failed long before I was born. Show me a person that wonders why there is such strong talk of secession right now, and I'll show you a person that has not had to deal with the outright stupidity of Federal Government.

I'm proud to be an American, but there is a burden to being an American that shouldn't be there, and I wish to remove that burden and place it back on the shoulders of the greedy, demonic government that saddled it on me. And when enough people have tossed their respective burdens back on the arms of this government, I hope its knees buckle, cripple and disintegrate, and this stale excuse for a democratic republic crumbles under the weight of its own bloated uselessness. Only then will people possibly wake up and realize that it's time to get back to the people running the government, and not vice versa.

So, to answer your question Boston; yes, I am fed up with the IRS.

The IRS is a joke. If you mess up, say goodnight, but if they mess up, too bad.

We got audited last year, IRS said there was no way whatsoever that my wife could have had so many deductions for her job as a teacher. The agent was a real A$$ to my wife and couldn't fathom why I wasn't present for the shake down. I was deployed for gods sake. Anyway as it turns out she had an additional $700 to deduct which came up during the process. After she got the exalted ones blessing that we were good to go she turned around as asked how to file an amended return, needless to say he was a little put out.

Come on guys. Let's ease up on the IRS and taxes. If we didn't pay taxes there would be no United Nations.

I was an accountant for a while. I think that one major key to dealing with the IRS is to let your accountant do the dirty work. If you use an accountant with a good history, you tend to get audited less. And when you are audited, the accountant knows how to handle the technicalities.

If you love the IRS then you will love this, this is part one of a movie called "Freedom to Fascism" - some interesting stuff in it.

This is one of the reasons I have always liked the idea of a flat tax. All one would have to do is one calculation. Simply take your income and multiply by the tax percentage and your taxes would be done. Short of having no taxes at all, what could be easier! I believe the complexity of our current tax system leads to so many problems.

I was a Steve Forbes supporter in the 90's. A flat tax would be great. Everyone would pay. The taxes you pay would be proportionate to the lifestyle you live. If you can afford to drive a Mercedes, you pay 10%. If you can omly afford to drive a Honda, you still pay 10%. This way it is fair for everybody. Illegals pay. Dope peddlers pay. Hmmm. Neat concept.

Adding text: What I am referring to is a national sales tax.

The idea of a flat tax came up last week in another thread. I said it then and i'll say it again, it's the way to go. No deductions no exemptions and No exceptions. Everybody pays the same regardless of income level.

The only question is, what do you tax? Cigarettes? Booze? What about gas? Food? Electricity?

Who decides what's necessary and what's not?

I'm not say that a flat tax is a bad idea, I'm just saying that, like everything else, it's not perfect.

It would be a sales tax. You would pay 10% on anything and everything you buy. I'm sure there would be some exceptions.

I'm definitely a supporter of the sales tax. But I doubt whether it would ever happen.

There are a couple of books on the Fair Tax... It seems awesome. Sadly, I'm sure we'll never see it
