    Default First Slant shave.........WOW!!!!

So I took a day off from shaving to get a little growth as I've read this is recommended with the Slant. I popped in a new Feather blade and used the following after my hot shower: Castle Forbes PreShave Oil and Kiss My Face Unscented with my C&E Super Badger Brush. I was a tad nervous at first as there are some rather gruesome portrayls here about what this 'Satans Razor' can do to you without adequate attention. First pass was N-S like usual as was the second with the third and final a diagonal XTG. All I can do is say WOW (when I'm not faceturbating!!!!). I'm to the point to where I can get DFS 99% of the time out of my old Fatboy on level 4/5, but this is truly a BBS day. I could have polished the underside of my jawline to true BBS as well, but I didn't want to tempt fate so I called it a day. All of that being said, I've NEVER EVER had a closer shave with a non-ATG pass. This, after all of one shave, is my new go-to razor! A couple of things I did notice (keep in mind that my beard is very coarse (think barbed wire)

    1) This is the first time with a DE that I was able to get a close shave around my adams apple without getting a nic or irritation.

    2) After the third and final pass, the shave did not LOOK extraordinarily close. I did a warm (almost hot) water rinse, applied some Nancy Boy Toner with a cotton ball which I let air dry, and then a ICE cold water rinse. After that I looked in the mirror and my face looked smoother than it did when I was 12 years old!!!!

    3) I'm sure that a smoother chin and jawline are to come, but in the meantime I'm content to let them be DFS while the rest of my face and neck (for the first time) is BBS without a single ATG pass.

Oh yeah, I finished up with some Nivea ASB. It is remarkable how close/smooth the shave was with the most inexpensive of products. I cant wait to try it with a FULL Kyle's Prep treatment and my T&H 1805 routine!

Yes, I am a recent slant convert. In fact, I have not touched my slim or my fatboy since I got it. With a thick beard it can not be beat! I am thinking about getting a gold one too!

Just remember to align that blade correctly!!

Right. I caught that before I began shaving. Not hard at all, just have to pay more attention since it doesn't 'self-algin' like it does in any other DE I've tried.

The T&H 1805 is a great combination with any razor, but it's a whole new level with the Slant. I shaved with that setup last night (T&H 1805 cream and balm, Slant, Astra Superior) and I'll tell you, it's probably one of my best shaves. So close that it felt like a normal 2 pass shave this morning.

That's what I'm wanting to hear! I've suffered from 5 o'clock shadow three hours after a shave before, hopefully this will negate that.

The Slant is a great razor. It seems to get those trouble areas easily and I can get a BBS shave consistently with two passes (XTG and ATG). I don't find ATG a problem with the slant at all. I rarely get a nick with it and no irritation. Love my 39c slant sledgehammer.

+1 on the alignment. I tried a Fatboy and a slim, and sold them. They could not measure up. They were tried in the balance and found wanting.

Oh the Gold Slant is beautiful.

Oh, I forgot. It is MUCH easier to align the blade properly in a Gold Slant.

Buy the Gold and sell the chrome on the B/S/T if you want.

The slant with a feather is, to bring other threads into this, the one razor to rule them all.

Great story. IMHO the Slant is the best modern made razor. The only DE's I have (after getting rid of the rest) are the slant, a 1940's SS and a Slim. There's no reason for me to get another. Straights, on the other hand, that's another story!

My slant with feather blade is my "go to" DE setup.

Let us know when you get it. My friends who send packages to España tell me it takes weeks sometimes for it to get delivered.
