Castle Forbes' Lavender is a great starting point for this combo.
Oxford and Cambridge just did not do it for me. Great scent but it did not last an hour on me. For this kind of money it should be much better IMHO. YMMV of course but for lavender I think there is much better value out there.![]()
a medicinal lavender for me![]()
"Well, if we took the bones out it wouldn't be crunchy, would it?
I recently received samples of all the C&S scents (just go to their webpage, and click on "samples" in the top bar.) In general, I find that these juices must absolutely be worn in order to fully appreciate them -- a whiff on a paper card or a sniff of an open sample decant just does not do them justice. Chandler Burr reported something interesting in his book "The Perfect Scent." In it, he notes that the perfume houses are now formulating their scents so that they smell good on the paper card, because that's how people are judging scents. As we all know, colognes smell quite differently as they dry down on our skin.
I appreciate lavender in any formulation because of its clean, herbal quality. In the C&S rendition, their is a very earthy quality to athe Oxford and Cambridge scent -- reminds me of working in my garden pulling weeds from around a lavender plant. I am undecided if I like it well enough to purchase. I am thinking that the C&S scents all require repeated wearings to fully apprecitate their complexity. I love the #88, and do plan on buying it at some point (perhaps to mark the completion of my divorce proceedings).
