I just had my first method shave. I used the cube, #2paste. activator, cutting balm, finishing balm and S100. Before I did the method shave I tried making the lather with S100 6 or 7 times. I had problems where the lather was airy, bubbles, light, and not smooth. I thought this was a problem, after reading enchante documents, Mantic59 youtube video, and read all I could on every major forum about method, I figured what I was doing wrong. The S100 holds water very very well. One habit to unlearn was to stop adding water constantly to the brush between mixing and passes. I made the cube was super wet priming, adding water, but still too crystallized mix. Reading some posts, and looking at the lather on Mantics videos, I stopped adding so much water. Getting the mix right has a slight learning curve, its easier to add little water then paste to overwet mix. Once I had the mix right, I jumped it, only exception I my Merkur HD hasn't come in yet. So I used Gillette Tech with feather. With hydrolast, cutting balm, I litterally felt freedom of shaving. I didn't have problems with around/on my adams apple or long quick strokes. If you are a serious shaver, you need to at least properly try Shave Method. Next for me is shave cloth, advanced pastes, and then learning straight razor with wet and dry shaving. Then again if this works too well, I might just drop dry shaving.
