I use Arbonne's body wash... around the holiday's the Sky scent, other times I mix it up.

I tried going back to (high quality) soaps, but they were too drying for my skin.

I got some C&E Patchouli body wash and lotion for Christmas. I used it today, smells great but I can't really say I feel clean from it. I need soap :)

I mentioned a few weeks ago (maybe in another thread) that I had picked up three bars of Pears transparent soap for $2.49 at a Rite-Aid store. I finally got around to trying it, last night. I used it to wash my face before going to bed after a long Christmas Day.

I had hoped it would be very similar to Neutrogena soap. The scents are not at all similar. While Neutrogena has a very pleasant sweet, honey-like aroma, the Pears is medicinal, okay but slightly unpleasant.

I suppose the quality of the face wash was good. My skin had a smooth, silky feel to the touch, much like Neutrogena leaves it.

So, there are pluses and minuses. I guess, for the price, I should not complain. I will probably try shaving with it in the future.

Hey Tim, just about any clear glycerine soap you get is going to be better than Neutrogena. Neutrogena has much less glycerin for one, and two it is still made with animal fat rather than vegetable.

Quick question, if you use a good body lotion after showering(I always use Aveeno after my shower) then does it really matter if you are using a triple milled soap/real soap vs something like irish springs?

I guess the advantage of the triple milled soaps is that it wouldn't strip your skin of as many oils and moisture, but if you are putting on lotion everyday, does it make up for it?

Also, how long would you say a good bar of triple milled soap lasts(I saw some at wholefoods the other day that was $4.xx for a 7 oz bar?
I just wanted to try and compare the price/use for one of these vs a regular soap!

Direct answer to your question: probably not, doesn't matter.

Frankly, Irish Spring isn't all that bad as far as ingredients....but homemade soaps are just many times better.

Triple milled soaps could last up to 4-6 months, depending on the size.

So when people use soaps, do they just use a washcloth or do they lather up one of the "poofs" and use it as if it were full of bodywash?

Lately, I've been using a washcloth or sponge...but not with 100% consistency.

You can find a poll here

I am real finicky with my soaps. I always use bar soaps, and usually unscented, or mild scents. I would like to try some triple milled soaps as I believe they hold their value in long lastingness.... By the way, has anyone got Lever2000 in their eye? Holy smokes, I absolutely thought I would be blind. One of the worst experiences I have EVER had. That stuff is DOWNRIGHT SCARY.

Using a bar soap without a loofah type thingy is like using a high quality shave soap/cream without a brush IMHO. Sure you can do it but the results aren't nearly as good. Plus the lather you get from a good quality soap (ie. Nancy Boy, Mitchell's, etc.) with a loofah makes me not want to try any gels ever again. Do yourself a favor and go buy a $1 poof ball and see it for yourself.

I have been using Rain-Bath liquid bath soap for years. I do need to use Dial once a week to kill off extra bacteria though. I am also enjoying the Mitchell's Wool Fat soap that arrived with my broken shave dish and shave soap that I ordered at the same time. I'm not a "CleanPhreak" but I sure do enjoy personal cleanliness.
