I recently received one as a gift. Is there any benefit to using a smaller or bigger brush?

As a former owner of close to the entire Kent line of BK brushes, a 4 (mulitiple times), an 8 ( twice) and a 12 I will just say enjoy it. It is quite the lather hog but an enjoyable experience. They don't call it a "king sized" brush for nothing!

TOTALLY up to your taste and you would have to try several sizes to see what fits your needs. The BK12 is just pure decadence! Its HUGE!!!! (as you know) most guys like a smaller to medium brush. Mine went to Stauff (frederik.... where the HELL did he go????????) in Belgium in trade for a now long gone Chubby 1 in Super.

To grossly over-generalize, I like larger brushes for creams and smaller brushes for soaps. Much of that is just practical: if the soap is in a mug, there might not be much room to whip up lather with a large brush. (My Tulip 4 barely fits in some mugs!)

    You need both!
