Default Lanolin Based Soaps & Creams

There is already an amazing sticky on Tallow based soaps.
I'm interested to know which soaps have lanolin in them, as I find the lanolin based soap which I own (Musgo Real) performs as well as my tallow based soaps (Tabac and Speick).
This list can also help people who have a lanolin allegy.

    *Updated*
So far the list of soaps/creams that contain lanolin are:
    Musgo
    Mitchel's Wool Fat (MWF)/Kent
    Godrej Shaving Creams
    Omega red cream
    proraso red
    Palmolive Refreshing Lemon
St. Charles Shave (SCS) Lanolin Shave Soap

following are from searching the forum and unconfirmed:
    Ingram shave cream
    lavanda
Institut du Karite (disputed effectiveness of lanolin based ingredient)

    please post your additions/corrections.

I have the Original and the Menthol Mist and both have lanolin on the ingredient list.

    Default Excellent thread

While MWF does contain lanolin, it is still primarily tallow based. Tallow is #1 on the list of ingredients, lanolin at #11 or so. My favorite soap, for sure.

I'm going to have to try some IK now!

I am working from memory when I say this, but as I recall lanolin is on the list of ingredients.

Yes. Yes you do. I like it better than MWF. The smell is better anyway. They are both very good soaps.

IK contains shea butter but lanolin too i believe.

    here's the list:
Potassium Palmate, Sodium Palmate, Potassium Stearate, Potassium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Glycerin, Aqua (Water), Isopropyl Lanolate, Palm Kernel Acid, Butrospermum (Shea Butter) Parkii, Parfum (Fragrance), Titanium Dioxide, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Cetaryl, Alcohol, Ceteareth-33, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Polysorbate 60, Petrolatum, Dimethicone Copolyol, Citronellol, Amylcinnamyl Alcohol, Geraniol

unless i am mistaken, isopropyl lanolate is just a lower alkyl ester of lanolin fatty acid.

That's a synthetic moisturizer only, widely used in cosmetics, it has no hypoallergenic, soothing and bacteriostatic properties.

well, ok, it may be less efficacious, being ingredient #8, and the poster appears to be looking for creams/soaps with lanolin as a primary ingredient, but is it or is it not a lanolin or lanolin-derived substance? this is important for those of us who are allergic~

It is lanolin derived, but it does not act and have all properties as the full lanolin itself of course.

By quick Googling for allergies and isopropyl-lanolate I found some info http://www.realself.com/ingredient/isopropyl-lanolate

  19. Smile Help with acronyms and abbrevs.

For someone who is trying to glean from your thread some info on good soaps and creams one might not have tried (or might have already) the shorthand of abbreviations and initials doesn't always help. I can play detective with some of it. Also, it is disappointing when a number of posters rave over an ultimate brand, but Google is no help in finding anything like it. In this case the Institut du karite given high marks by a number of you. I finally figured out MWF, which I already have, and I'm working on chasing down some of the others. I have mainly used cremes for the three years since I took up shaving with a straight, but I've decided to explore soaps now, and any info I can glean is helpful.

    Thanks,
    Don J.

If I understand it correctly, lanolin is an additive for skin conditioning and not a soap base. Soap bases, IIRC, are tallow and glycerine.
