    Default ebay experience...a question?

I bid on a razor on ebay offered by "PTBSR". After the first bid, I sent a question regarding condition and if there had been any work done on the DE razor listed. Shortly after that, I received an email that the bid had been canceled and the reason listed was that the description had been changed. I read the description and it seemed to be the same. I sent three inquiries via the ebay message and received no responses. Any thoughts? Anyone deal with this seller? He/She has 100% pos. Just a mystery to me.

    Thanks.

I asked the same guy a question once about a razor and he sent me back a snotty reply and blocked me from bidding on his auctions with no explanation. I don't trust him.

This is a very common issue with this particular seller. He has been around for sometime but really pain to deal with.

Looks like it's PTBSR ? The same guy who keeps putting on the 195 Bottom Adjustable.

Thanks. I suspected that this had happened to some of the members before and just wanted to check.

I've bought a razor or two from him and things went smoothly. I didn't ask any questions though. Luckily there are plenty of other razors and sellers out there.

just call ebay, finally ebay has a real person that talks to you, instead for waiting days or weeks for email response. they seem to be more helpful. just report him . they have a copy of every email sent so they know that he maybe unethical with his practices. and that he may be disinfranchising you without merit....good luck

I certainly noticed someone on ebay asking for a grand for a razor. (Sure it's rare, but really?)

It looks like he has great feedback, but I guess he just doesn't want to sell to ANYONE who might ask questions. The fact that his auctions are private is always a wonder to me.

One 'dishonest' reason to make your auctions private is to use other ebay accounts to bid up your auction. If an item is bid up early in the auction, it creates a higher perceived value to others who look at the auction. Sniping software, like esnipe, also can't charge an account that uses them in private auctions in case of the accidental win if just trying to up the price.

I don't trust private auctions unless its for a very high ticket item.... or porn. 'Protecting bidders identities' for a vintage razor just doesn't seem to make too much sense.

I've bought once or twice from him and probably wont do it again. I know I had bought a case razor from him that was as nice as described

He also uses a few other ebay names to list auctions. I've bought 3 or 4 razors from 2 or 3 different sellers and all of them were shipped from the same guy at the same address. Most of the razors I bought were as described however one super adjustable I bought had been painted on the handle All in all, I don't think he is a bad seller but the fact that he didn't let you bid is

He should be careful that he doesn't bite the hand that feeds him.

I don't know if eBay has made any recent change to this policy, but it's always been that a seller can block anyone they choose for any reason they choose and the bidder has no retaliation. Seriously, I'm glad that I've been blocked because now I won't even accidentally bid or be tempted to bid on his auction. I don't want to deal with this guy if all it takes to upset him is asking for more information... But it is irritating to think that I've been an eBay user for 10 years in good standing and some jackhole can block me like I'm a nuissance.

We should all ask him a question about an auction and force him to block 10K potential bidders!

Well, the dude is a Power Seller with 100% positive feedback. It's highly unlikely that Ebay will care to check into his sales methodology. The fact is, he may have his 100% positive feedback by being very picky about who bids on his auctions. Frustrating to potential buyers? Yes. Unethical? No.

As for the Gillette 195 he has for a BIN of $995... I'm sure he's using that just to attract attention to his other auctions. BTW, there is a fellow forum member by the name of PTBSR1. I have no idea if it's the same person or not, but it is curious.

Usual fine print: I have no affiliation with this guy whatsoever. He's a bit of an obstacle on the RAD road... I just drive around him.

WOW. Not to post twice in a row, but I just realized I bought something from this seller and never realized it was who this thread was about. It must've been a decent experience if I don't remember the transaction
