EJ makes a synthetic brush for C&E. Anyone know anything about this brush? Specifically, how it compares to the TOBS imitation badger brush?

Well, I don't have any experience with the TOBS brush but I do with the EJ. It is a great brush with both soaps and creams, will work up an exceptional lather, and the bristles are very soft. It is somewhere between firm and floppy, overall. I may experiment with badger brushes, but will always have one EJ synthetic on hand at a minimum.
There are a few threads on this brush, this thread in particular.

Stub,
Thanks so much for your help. Especially the link to that BB thread on this EJ synthetic. After much reading on this site I became very dissatisfied with the bristle brush I've been using. Enjoyed Bjrn's report on synthetics and decided that was the route for me, but balked at the cost of the TOBS he liked best. Found the EJ synthetic, but wouldn't have bought it without the reliable input you provided. I have one coming from the English Shaving Co. Total cost is under $40. Much less than I would have had to pay for the TOBS. Looking forward to many happy shaves. Thanks again!

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how soft the EJ is. And the price from TESC cannot be beat; I have ordered from them numerous times and their service has always been excellent. One other thing: Lathering creams is pretty easy with the EJ, but for soaps I start out with a little less water than usual and only add water as necessary. The brush does not hold a lot of water so one shake after a good soak seems to be the right amount.
Enjoy the brush!
The TOBS brush that Bjorn recommends in his synthetic round-up is NOT a synthetic brush! It's not badger but it's still includes animal hair of some sort.
I am in the UK at the moment and just ordered the new TOBS synthetic brush. I'll work on a new review set once I'm back in the US.
