Wash gel, facial tonic, thermal spray - before or after shaving?

Folks,

simple question: I have a ton of stuff from Avène at the moment for my irritated, zit-spotted skin.

A wash gel.
A facial tonic.
A thermal spray.
etc.

The question: especially the wash gel and the tonic - do I apply them BEFORE or AFTER shaving? What do you guys do with such products?

IMO the only thing you should be applying after a shave is moisturizer and/or aftershave. Washing your face with any sort of soap would probably do more harm than good. The facial tonic might be OK if its not too strong. I'm not sure what a thermal spray is, but it doesn't sound all that necessary. I wash my face before shaving with Kiehl's Facial Fuel Gel Wash.
