Thread: Yellow vs Green

    Default Yellow vs Green

I'm sure this has been posted somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

Today I shaved with my Futur and green pack 7-o'Clocks, wow want a shave, bbs w/ no irritation. I 'm very impressed, so my question are the yellow pack 7's the same or different as the grrens?

    Thanks

I think the green packs are the best and they are the only blade I use and think work well. Make sure it is the Permasharps and not the super stainless (they are both green, but one way better than the other.)

I always see posts about green and yellow 7's, where does everyone buy them? Any specific site?

I know West Coast Shaving has the Yellows...I don't know where to find the greens, although I am interested in trying them

I like the yellows better. They are sharper than the greens. I am talking about the ones made in the Russian plant. Also the yellows are coated blades. You can buy the yellows from west coast shaving.

Well, if your talking light then green is a primary color and yellow is a combination of green and red (also a primary color of light.) If you are talking ink, then yellow is a primary color and green is a combination of yellow and cyan (blue, also a primary color of ink)....... Oh wait, you are talking about the packages or the blades themselves?

    Sorry, I couldn't resist

I ride a motor scooter most of the time. I get between 80-115 miles to the gallon when I do. On those rare days that I drive my old beater of a car, I get 8 miles to the gallon, YMMV, mine sure does.

The Greens are available on eBay from dridiot as well as one of the vendors on the Shaving Mall. Run a search for Gillette, it should come up.

IMHO the Russian Made Yellow are superior to any of the other 7 O'clock blades. The Sharp Edge are indeed sharper than the others. I hold these at almost the same level as the famed Feather blades.

Not tried the green, but the yellows (sharp edge) give me excellent shaves.

Have you tried the Indian "blackies" - platinum coated. The permasharps are -1 yellows, and the blackies are -1 to the feathers. I have also tried the Russian stainless greenies and they are not as good as the permasharps...

    IMHO...

The Green from India is smoother then the yellow from Russia..IMO
    Both are good blades
Where do we go from here?

    Here is my .02

Green Super Stainless (Russian) - Good blade, sharp but not as smooth as the others (8.0)
Green Permasharp Stainless (Indian) - Great blade, sharp and smooth (9.0)
Yellow Sharpedge (Russian) - Great blade, sharper than permasharps but just a tiny bit less smooth. Still very comfortable though. (9.25)

    Price wise
Super Stainless - Approximately $0.20 per blade (search ebay for gillette 7 o'clock)
Permasharp - Approximately $0.30 per blade (google gillette 7 o'clock permasharp stainless)
Sharpedge - Approximately $0.35 per blade (west coast shaving)

The yellows are sharp and smooth. Provides excellent shaves in a slant.

Put one in my slant today and achieved the closest shave ever with no nicks at all. BBBS. Blade works well in my 38 also.

I just had my sample pack of the 7 o' clock super stainless blades arrive today. After reading the posts I am kind of second guessing my purchase, I hope I like them....
