Default Thoughts on First Sheraton Shave

Used a Sheraton for the first time tonight. Very different from the Aristocrat I'd test driven a couple nights before, even though they kind of look alike.

I lathered up with Tom's of Maine Mint (my wife hates the smell, but she's out tonight) and loaded up a once used Dorco ST-301.

I'm still up in the air about open comb razors. They shave very well for me. They do leave a trail of little lather furrows on the face that let you know right away if your angle of attack is wrong, and they just look great, too. I get good results from their toothless progeny, so I don't know how useful that comb really is.

The Sheraton felt more like the SuperSpeeds and Techs I'm more familiar with than the Aristocrat. The Aristocrat felt like a big old gentle round edge with a blade just barely sticking out, by comparison the Sheraton was much more assertive. I was not tempted to apply much pressure, and while I'll go four passes with a Tech, I stopped at three and that was enough for a DFS that had could have gone BBS with some minor touch up work.

I liked using the Sheraton, and it came across as being an effective, businesslike razor.

The Sheraton will definitely get the job done. It has a feel and shave all it's own. I will always keep one in my rotation. Thanks for reporting in!

I'm probably exactly the wrong person to be writing razor impressions...but maybe it might be useful for fellow newbs to get a newb's perspective on playing with new toys.

I'll stick more extensive thoughts in the reviews section, once I get more familiar with the razors in question.

I'm acquiring a bunch of different types in "well used" condition meaning to be a drive-by owner...use them for frame of reference and turn over the ones that aren't a perfect fit for my style. I'll be damned if the idea of parting with them isn't becoming more and more unsettling. Why would I gives them up to those filthy hobbitses, my precioussssssss razorssssss?

Not at all! I've never shaved with the Sheraton and have been doing this wet shaving thing forever. We all appreciate your comments and for one, I can't wait to get my hands on one of those suckers - an open comb undated superspeed - bring it on. (Is there a notch?)

welcome to MY nightmare - "oh, I'll just sell the ones I don't use...."

    sure. 100 razors later...

I like the Sheraton very much - 'course, you now need a Senator so's you have a silver 'n' gold! (And then you'll be a Matched Pair Collector.)

thanks for the thoughtful review -
