Phoenix Bird Oolong High Mountain Grown from Phoenix Collection
More bitter than I like. Less breadth. Narrow flavor band. I brew it as I brew other presumably fancy teas of this ilk. I'll see what I can coax from it. Maybe I'm using too much leaf, too much heat.

Some heavy roast TGY from J-Tea. Nothing outstanding at first but it's the sort of tea I could quite happily drink for a week without getting bored - I thinks it's perfect background tea for the cold whether.

Default Da Hong Pao Tribute (from Taiwan)

From a local tea shop (The Steeping Room) here in Austin TX. Absolutely delicious, not really a traditional DHP flavor profile but just the same it's very nice. Aged three years and heavily roasted, easily 10 or more infusions.

Finishing off some everyday Milan Dancong from Jing Tea Shop. Out of the 5 plus cups I got out of it, two were very good. A nice peach finish to it. For the price ($5/100 gr), it is yummy and affordable !

Moving onto some Qi Lan Wuyi from Rishi Tea (also very affordable). I can definitely smell the raisin sugar mentioned in the vendor description when the leaves hit the pre-heated gaiwan. Looking forward to it.

Its always fun to break open another half-pound bag of Taiwan Wuyi. Stocking up on this was the right decision.

Was reading today somewhere about Jin Xuan being called "milk" tea. Explains a lot about the relevant tastes and textures.

2009 Winter Buddha Hand High Mountain
    and
    2009 Winter LaLaShan High Mountain
Both from Floating Leaves. This new Buddha Hand is very creamy, very contemplative, what beer brewers refer to as "big." The LaLaShan (the peak upon which I must have spent my early twenties) has a powerful flavor that some would liken to peach and which I would compare to baking spices. Both are wonderful; the LaLa might be better suited to my current mood.
