Thread: New shaver...

    Default New shaver...

I heard about wet shaving (or rather, the resurgence thereof) via fazed.net's link to mantic59 on Youtube. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching his videos and have found myself growing more and more fanatical about wet shaving. I bought a Merkur '04 DE safety razor, cheap-o boar hair brush from Whole Foods, Tom's of Maine mint cream, and went to town. After I cleaned up the blood, I bought the Proraso shave cream, pre-shave cream, after shave lotion, and shaving brush from Target. The Proraso products look swell sitting all together on the bathroom counter, very Martha Stewart. I also got a styptic pencil (2 for 1 at Walgreen's) and found a deal on the net for 100 Zorrick brand (anyone else heard of them?) blades for $10. I can't wait to shave when I get up in the morning. Sometimes I just sit in the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror, watching my beard, waiting for the hairs to show themselves so I can decapitate them. It's very id-satisfying. I noticed that my previous problem with ingrown hairs disappeared after about a week of wet shaving. Also, using some of the techniques I saw on Youtube, I now have a puss that is smooth in all four directions. My wife thinks I'm crazy, and she's right, but I don't hear her complaining when we kiss, nevermind that her mouth is covered by my face, I just don't hear her complaining.

Welcome to B&B Suprisingly! Great to have you with us and always feel free to ask questions, everyone around here is very helpful. Also it's wonderful the the quality of your shaves have improved so dramatically. Enjoy! Keep up the good work.

About Beauty Marks, I go over the hill, but it also depends on the mark, some you may not be able to go over, some you may. It's very subjective and a phrase you'll see around here very, very, very often, YMMV. It's a stable of the B&B community.

Welcome. Glad you decided to join the "revolution"!

About beauty marks. I had a mole on my chin. I usually went "over the hill", but constantly nicked it. I had it removed because it just wasnt worth the trouble of it getting in the way.

be careful about those zorrick blades. i bought some a while ago... they are very dull blades. if you want a treat, get derby, feather, swedes, israeli's, or practically anything but those zorricks..

Welcome to B&B. I'm glad that you've found a good solution to your ingrown hairs, just hope that this new hobby won't hurt your wallet as much as the ingrown hairs hurt your face :)

As some wag once said --"Plowing is much easier when you go around the stump".

    Makes sense to me.

    Welcome aboard.
