    Default Jura 16yo single malt

Picked up a bottle on the way home tonight...a gift to myself for landing a big client this week. Still the same I didn't feel like dropping big coin on the standard single malts and found this for $47.

I don't know why but my first sip sent my throat into spasms and me hacking and coughing. I have never had such a reaction from any kind of alcohol ever so I was actually scared for a moment that I had a spiked bottle...of course that didn't stop me from another taste.

So...good stuff and I'm interested in opinions and taste notes from others who have tried. I only had a small amount at this point, maybe a shot, so I'm not speaking with any knowledge but I get all the salty oceanness that you find in the Islay's with some of the peat and smokiness. It is not the sledgehammer that Lagavulin or Laphroiag are and so far that may be a good thing.

Im planning on some more later tonight, so tell me what to taste for!

    Congrats on the new client!

Sadly I'm not the biggest fan of Jura. It's not bad, but it's nothing special to me. It's a maritime malt. Salty and oily. If I remember correctly, there are piney notes as well with some citrus and a few dry herbs.

never tried the 16. Since the 12 is my least favorite scotch ever I decided to just ignore everything they put out.

I try to keep everything I say clear enough that no one has to guess what I mean Believe it or not, that is actually quite toned down from the first draft of that post.
