Thread: Small brush?

  1. Default Small brush?

Quick question. I had been using a cheap boar brush for a while, and my friend gave me the AOS travel kit for my birthday. Is there any drawback to using the "travel-sized" brush for a while? It makes lather a lot better than the boar, but it is considerably smaller...

Some more experienced members will probably chime in on this, and they will probably give you better advice than me.

That said, I use my travel size Edwin Jagger Best Badger Brush almost exclusively. It works incredibly well, and I haven't noticed any drawbacks at all.

No problem at all. My first brush was an Eshave travel brush that I used as my primary brush for several months without any problems.

I find that a smaller brush is ideal for face lathering, although not as great for bowl lathering.

+1. I prefer a 19 to 21mm knot. I face lather pretty much exclusively, though.

As usual, it's a personal preference thing. Me, I prefer smaller knots, if nothing else, because I end up with less soap in my ears.

Is this the small EJ BBB that comes with the travel tube? Do you find the handle a little small?

Just curious because I received my EJ BBB travel brush yesterday and I'm trying to decide whether to keep or return it and use the same AoS brush for travel and buy a medium EJ BBB or Shavemac 429 for a second brush. A couple of days before I ordered the EJ BBB travel brush I took advantage of the Shavemac D01 special and its an incredible brush. I saw on another thread that the AoS kit brush is made by Rooney.

It also occurred to me that smaller brushes typically cost less, too, so you can buy more of them.

Google Wee Scot sometime. That's a small brush. I'd own one if it weren't for the price and my fear that it's more of a novelty item than anything else.
