Hey all,
I have been scouring the website in hiding gathering tips and tidbits about this phenomenon.
It all started visiting the mall in Denver the other week and running across "The Art of Shaving" and receiving a demo of the perfect shave.
The stuff smelled great, felt great, and the ritual of brush, lather, and shave seemed like something that could actually be enjoyable compared to the plug-in nightmare I have been using to present my red face to the world.
Another gentleman at the store directed me to Crabtree & Evelyn and I found more of those great products and supplies. I purchased the Nomad soap in the bowl and the Nomad balm. What was this? A subculture of old time man-pampering? I was getting the bug.
I got home, Googled everything I could think of, found this site, watched every Mantic video on YouTube, ordered a Merkur Straight HD and Merkur Blades and created a place on the sink to display the art.
Well, it arrived today. And I used it. And.......Wow. The sound that blade makes on its stroke is so much more satisfying then the buzz of electricity. The weight of the razor feels like you are holding a tool in your hand; like you are detailing a prized car rather than grinding scrap metal. I could go on and on, but at this time I am really just here to say hi and Thanks.
I got a great shave from your tips and chose great supplies reading your reviews and I can not wait to learn more and try more. It will take some time to refine my technique, and my neck (lower neck where the hair grows up instead of down) needs some work, but I am well on my way. I have always had problems with razor burn and ingrown hairs on my neck and I think this just might do the trick.
Thanks again,
Peace, Dan
