Burt's Bees bought by Clorox?

roxanne quimby bears and eerie resemblance to mayor quimby from the simpsons.

I personally think it's a load of crap when small companies do this. I think quality control suffers, especially when you're trying to make a buck off of 'green products' AND you're a corporate giant like clorox

BB has some magic healing powers for my badly chapped lips and the cuticles that I pick at. This is upsetting to know as I can only think that quality will suffer.

Not surprising. Burts Bees used to be something you could only find at Whole Foods Markets or health stores. Then it started showing up everywhere; All the major supermarkets--Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, even gas stations started carrying it.

For that reason I thought of Burts Bees as a product that marketed towards Wal-Mart type shoppers, as something that is "all natural" and "healthy," but it's really not that different (imho) than anything else.

Nobody crawls into bed with Wally World without quality suffering a raping. With the amount of market share that Wal-Mart quickly assumes for a small supplier, they pull the strings and subsequently don't hesitate one bit at cranking the vise on a suppliers to cut corners in order to cut costs.

After a few years of it, I can't blame the BB founders for taking the money while their sanity/dignity/integrity is still intact.

There's a lot more of this:

I know that a lot of the major beauty corporations own some of my favorite brands. I know about most of the Estee Lauder brands and that L'Oreal owns Lancome and about Procter & Gamble owning the likes of Covergirl and Olay, plus many more. I wanted to dig a little deeper and find out exaclty who own what, and not only was it fun, it was nice to know who owns what. It provides a bit of insight into the entire realm of the beauty industry.

So when they say "Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee", you have to include all of these as well.

Man is my girlfriend gonna be mad. She goes out of her way to not buy P&G and she uses Aussie. She just started wearing these perfumes she found--Escada--that she loves.

I've been using the lip balm for over 6 years. I always carry a tube with me and as to quality I think it's improved. About 4 years ago I bought 3 tubes at different stores and they all were bad, it was as if the recipe didn't get all of the ingredients. They smelled bad, kind of putrid actually and they had no mint to them at all.

Recently I bought 6 tubes and I noticed the new packaging. They used to have a clear plastic that you had to kind of fight with or break a nail getting it open. Now they have a cool extended label that has a tab so you can peel it back to open the tube.

Sometimes with big companies come some other experience and capital to improve things.

Not sure what you are referring to as a "surprise".

Cause the owner hired someone to help him out and she basically screwed him out of the company. So selling the company "while their sanity/dignity/integrity is still intact" is not possible.
