How Did You Find This Place?

So here we all are, yammering on about soaps vs. creams and what blade works real well with what razor and whether aftershave should have witch hazel or not, and so on and so on...

It's great, but how did it happen that so many of us do it as a part of our daily internet strolling?

Tell your story. How did you find the Badger&Blade site?

I can tell you, my way was a little odd. I was hanging around a vintage clothing and lifestyle site, thefedoralounge.com, and a shaving thread came up. Someone mentioned this site, so I popped over and it seemed that every issue I could think of, I could find using the Search feature.
I hung around. I still do, and I'm a better man for it, with the shaving den and the eye-rolling but smiling wife as evidence.

I had read an article a while back about the resurgence of wet shaving. I can't remember where I saw it. I dug through the boxes of my father's stuff that we hung onto and kept it our basement until I found his travel kit. In it, I found what I now know is a 1971 SS and one Wilkinson blade.

Before I dared use it, I wanted to know what I was doing so I did some Googling. I found B&B and was very impressed. The reviews helped me buy my subsequent DEs, brushes, soaps, and creams; basically, all of the ADs.

Since I was getting so much information and spending so much time out here, I decided to become a contributor.

I heard about shaving soaps and (for once) rather than dismissing the idea looked in to it. Ended up here, ended up getting a DE, and now I have a M3 that is in a drawer in my bathroom (it doesn't deserve to be displayed :P) doing nothing. Have developed some sort of posting frenzy as I was on break and will probably slow down a bit now that I'm back in class. I plan on hanging around here for decades...

I got a wild hair to start using a straight, so I googled "How to use a Straight" and landed in joel's tutorial. And have been here since.

My Merkur Progress that I bought new almost 10 years ago was starting to look long on the tooth. Specifically the top cap.

Looking around for replacement parts I found a picture of what ended up being a Mergress conversion, which led me here; I joined back then specifically to talk to MER, also found out how to get a replacement top cap and ended up hanging around some more in awe of all the info.

I was researching Gillettes and ended up here.....Then I ran into Limecat and almost bailed but everyone else convinced me to stay.....

Turns out that cat's alright!!!!.....

I read an article on wetshaving here at the Art of Manliness and was hooked ever since. I am currently in the process of purchasing all the required elements to start this new hobby!

Got fed up with using a mach 3 blade every week and not getting a good shave out of it. Searched for straight razors and found B&B.

I was looking to find a tutorial or something explaining how to use shaving oil vs. a shaving soap/cream. I stumble on this site. Then I did a search on how to use a DE razor has it was mentionned in a thread here. Again, google brought me to badger and blade. I then started to explore the review section and thought it was well made. I did have a look at everything I could think of in my un-developped shaving addiction and this website had it. So, I decided, after lurking for a while that I should join...

I read that same article, and it really planted a seed ... I started looking for DE razors in antique shops and asking my friends if they had any stuck away in closets.

I didn't notice the link to B&B down at the bottom of the article ... I found this site via Google while I was doing more research on wet-shaving.

Incidentally, I stopped reading The Art of Manliness a long time ago, but I'm still here.

I was doing a search for an all stainless steel razor. I didn't like having to use a plastic razor- I wanted something more durable.

I can't remember exactly how, but I remember coming here sometime last May. I was scared by all of the soaps, creams, etc. and had never been an active member in any forum. Then, like atcstretch, I found it again through the Art of Manliness.

I'm glad I came around and joined.

That's pretty much how I got here as well. Ended up getting a DE and love it. I finally have a real straight on the way as well, got an ebay junker, but it was too junky for me. It'll be good hone practice once I acquire a Norton 4k/8k (this summer most likely).

Well I originally started out shaving with a DE in my teens and moved up to an injector when it became available and went with a twin blade when I went into the Navy as they issued them to us. After I got out of the Navy I went electric and last July I got tired of getting a five o'clock shadow around noon. I bought one of the new multi blade razors and was a bit taken back by the price of the blades and I had wanted to try my hand at a straight razor (and to this day have not gotten the hang of shaving with my left hand!) Any way I started looking on line to see if DE razors and blades were available and came across Badger & Blade! Well the rest is history and I now have 9 razors as of last weekend and my vanity is now full of aftershaves, colognes, balms, and witch hazel! I actually now look forward to my morning ritual instead of dreading it! All thanks to the great members of B&B!

I seem to remember I was mooching around youtube looking at the "how to" categories and came across a video of a guy decrying the multiblade cartridges and singing the praises of the old safety razor. I thought cartridges *were* the original safety razor (albeit modernised) - I had no idea what a double edge blade was.

A bit more googling to see where I might get hold of such an amazing device which didn't need replacement blades at nearly £12 for 8 and I guess I found myself here. I have had periods of involvement in messageboards before and going back to some I used to frequent every now and then, the same people seem to be having exactly the same arguments.

This is a real haven from all that - a great learning resource with a very helpful group of contributors which has led to me having a peek every couple of days.

I was dis-satisfied with the ingrown hairs, cost of blades, and what I now refer to as goo-in-a-can.

I work in a professional environment and I had gotten to the point that I would only shave once a week. The rest of the time I was just scruffy.

I had put the last blade (the last one I'd ever own) in my fuzion and put replacements on our shopping list. We were in Sams club and I picked up the warehouse pack it was $40. Something snapped. I put them back on the shelf and walked away thinking there had to be a better way.

I turned up this site while searching the net. I started lurking and learning and buying.

I've spent way more than $40 since then. I don't care:
My ingrown hair problem is gone.
I rarely have an acne breakout.
I go to work with a great shave every day.
I'm happy that I don't have to use what Gillette says I should.
My AD's are mostly under control. I have a budget and I stick with it...mostly

All of this is possible because of the information stored here and the outstanding individuals that are willing to provide the guidance to properly use it.

Besides the whole process just rocks!
