Default To Shake Or Not To Shake

I have a rooney 1/3 in super I find that when I shake it after use it drys alot faster.

I would like to continue to do this but I fear it may cause damage. Im wondering if the knot will come lose.

Has anyone ever had the issue of a knot coming lose because of shaking it dry?

    Thank you in advance

I've always vigorously shaken out my brushes as if they were a wet dog, never had a problem.

I have read on here where some people have had their knot come out from shaking. I just don't shake the brush too hard. I shake out all of my brushes and then gently run them over a dry towel. I think you'll be ok as long as you take it easy.

I shake 3 times gently. Then I squeeze gently until no water comes out. About 4 times. Then I rub gently on a clean towel about 4 swipes.

I like to shake my brushes vigorously, two reasons, for a fuller bloom and to dry faster.I think its all up to the users preferences.Never had a problem with any of my brushes.

my omega looses a few bristles if i shake her too much.

like others have said - a gentle shake and a rub on a towel is my technique

I've been using some of my brushes for a couple of years. I shake them vigorously six or seven times, then slap the bristles on a towel, then squeeze the bristles with a towel. A real shedder will become noticeable right away, but I have others that don't shed a bristle after some initial loss. I'm not abusing brushes, but I do get the moisture out.

I think shaking is a bad idea. I know, I know, lots of folks do it with no damage but why risk it? I gently squeeze the brush and then hold the brush horizontal with one hand and then gently "flick" the tips of the bristles with the fingers of my other hand until no more water comes out. Then blot it with a towel and set on the counter bristles up to dry.

I have shaken all my brushes vigorously for over twenty years and have never had a knot shake loose from any of them.

I don't know why people talk about a risk of problems with shaking. Isn't the risk really an opportunity to get another brush?

Maybe, but perhaps that means that the brush was bad to begin with. Which is sad

Plus my brush cost around $165.00 I would hate to ruin it.
