Default Best baseball player name, EVER!

The Met's third base coach gets my vote...

Maybe he can get an endorsement deal from Maas???

Hmm... maybe from a wet shaver's (so I guess this would include me) point of view it's the best. But from a purely baseball perspective, Clete Thomas of the Detroit Tigers has a pretty fitting name, and it's not even a nickname!

Yup. He used to play AA ball with the Indianapolis Indians, back when they were a farm club for the Expos. I was 8-10, and our little league teams used to go to games every season. He was their best hitter and most well-known player for an awfully long time by minor league standards.

I suppose Sal "The Barber" Maglie should get a mention as well.

How 'bout some love for Mose "The Rabbi of Swat" Solomon? Lifetime batting average: .375 (3 for 8; 1923).

Dom DiMaggio. It's fun to say and it translates from the Italian as "I get the second best of every damn thing!"

    Default Yaz

Gotta go with the Yaz. Carl Yastrzemski.

The last person to win a triple crown (1967).

I had my picture taken with him at Met Stadium (Bloomington, MN). The next year, I had the picture sent into the clubhouse and he signed it.

Saw him play at both Fenway Park and Met Stadium.

    What a guy!

Definitely the most ironic name, in that he rarely sat on a bench!

He can't have the best baseball name ever if die hard baseball people are the only ones that can pronounce his name.

No way you're a Red Sox fan, then.

Personally, I think "Bill Buckner" and "Bucky Dent" are two of the best as well. [sox fans]
