Question What soap will you NOT be Re-buying??

It's so fun to have a rotation, that it's easy to buy more than you'll use.

what soaps have you bought that are no longer in your rotation? maybe they've been sold off, tossed in the shower or worse yet, thrown directly into the trash can...

for me i will not be buying the Tade again, or the Lothantique - Le Collectioniarre.

Arko- The scent could kill an elephant.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met.

I will not be buying any more T&H Luxury soap ... I like the way it shaves, I like the way it smells, I like the way the wooden bowl looks sitting on my counter.

But I can get the same shave and the same smell from Williams Mug Soap for almost nothing ... having that wooden bowl with the Royal Warrant is not worth an extra $44 to me.

Arko- good soap but don't care for the scent
Speick, DR Harris, Valobra Almond. All good soaps but if I am going to cut back there are others I like better.

C&E Sienna. It just doesn't work that well for me. I get a really nice lather but it doesn't provide the lubrication that I get from other soaps.

Arko, I did not enjoy this soap at all. Its on par with Williams. Identical IMHO. I found the lather to be not very protective at all. I was actually looking around for another soap in my cabinet to salvage my shave & face for that matter but its not like a blade you can change out. Once the brush is loaded its hard to do. Arko left a soapy film on my hands & I could feel it in my water. It was very detergent like. Thankfully, it was cheap & I had no problem throwing it into the trash can after one use. There is just to many soaps out there and wont even waste my time with this one.

Classic Shaving brand lime soap. After reading reviews of other cheap soaps from classic shaving, I'll avoid those as well.

My one experience with Classic Shaving's soap is the Sandalwood. A few minutes after unwrapping the puck it went straight to the garbage can outside. I could not put up with the smell. And I like sandalwood.

Somebody's nuts. I don't know whether it's me or them, but somebody is definitely nuts. I just wished I knew, so I'd know, you know?

Arko. Not for me at all.

I understand where some guys would be put off by Williams, but I love and will continue to use Williams. Arko makes no sense to me.

Wait! You are claiming that not only does William's Mug perform the same as T&H but that Williams Mug (which smells like a citronella candle to me) smells like T&H (which has a pronounced lavender note).

Now T&H is no Tabac but I find it hard to believe T&H and WM are comparable. Based on the poor reviews of WM's lather and scent I have never bothered to shell out the $1.50 to find out.

I may be interested in picking up that fine C&E Nomad stuff if you have it to get rid of. I am rather fond of it.

isn't it unlike you to take such a stance on experimentation?

Sorry it was only a sample size and I gave it away. I had a bad experience with a sample of the Nomad Cream (it was bad and smelled terrible) and I think that played into my dislike of the soap.

Coming from a neutral third party (though I just admitted to liking and using Williams) I can see the similarity. Williams smells citronella out of the box, but the puck itself while in use loses much of that, leaving a lavender/lime scent.

The latherability issue is also over hyped to me. If you let the puck sit in water for a few minutes before use it gives a great lather. Next to VDH this is a great, inexpensive soap. I think a lot of the time this is a case of somebody hearing it's bad and seeing that it's cheap and deciding it's not for them... as you yourself indicated you're guilty of.

Man, sorry to hear that. If I knew what type of sample containers to buy and where to get them for an inexpensive price, I would offer to send you a sample because I believe it to be that good! But then again, there are a ton of people who like lime and I don't. Oh well......
