I get quicker showers with bars
But I go with shower gels; I hate soap scum !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! too much cleaning![]()
Well a quick benefiet to showergel, you don't have to pick it up if it drips onto the floor. And since I am not in prison and I don't have to worry about it I use bars.
Common sense is not so common anymore.
Bars or shave soaps with mediocre lather.

It's all fun and games until someone looses an eye. Then it's just fun.
I use both ... first pass is all over (including hair) with Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap. This gets me CLEAN.
Then, after shampoo/conditioner/rinse, I use a bar of Tabac Luxury Soap to make me smell good. I don't rinse off the Tabac lather, I will either pat it dry with a towel, or let it air-dry as I shave (with Tabac, of course.)
I Came. I Shaved. I Conquered.
I much prefer bar soap but still use bodywash on occasion.

I go back and forth.
If I'm in a hurry, I reach for the bar soap. If I want to smell nice, I use gel.
I use the gel, in my opinion it smells nicer, and feels more moisturizing to me.
I've been using Axe gel for quite a while (specifically snake peel) However I bought the Provence Sante bar soap and I'm loving it. It really doesn't smell anything like the Provence Sante shaving soap at all to me, but it's an outstanding soap nonetheless.
The accumulated goo of all their five bladed cartridges and gel
will foam up about their waists and all the scruffy and unkempt will look up
and shout "Shave us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No."
What kind of bar saop do you use?
Ive recentley went back to Imperial Leather, Dove and Irish Spring.
All lather up much better than shower gel IMO.

Bars. I would love to find a gel that didn't make my skin feel all greasy afterwards, as I'm really getting tired of the soap scum. However, all the gels that I've tried are so full of "moisturizers" that I feel like I've showered in olive oil when I'm done.![]()
I use bar soap- lathers great on my brush.

Bar soap. Funny thing is I somehow missed the transition from bars to gels?!?!? I tried gel and the poofy thing a few times and didn't like it. I've basically been using a wash cloth and soap bar my entire life.
Did gel for many years (started after a trip to Europe) but went back to the bar a few years back.

If you want to be clean, use a bar.
Dove isn't true soap, but has a trace amount of soap in it. That's why the box reads "beauty bar," not "soap."
Since you're in the UK, go with Cusson's Imperial Leather.
Jesus, you have Imperial Leather in rotation with Irish Spring and Dove?
Cusson's is way out of the latter two's league. You're a brat because it's old news in the UK ;)
Imperial Leather is one of the best soaps ever made.
Soap bar... if you are looking to try one I'd recommend Nancy Boy signature scent soap bar... smells amazing, moisturizing, huge (lasts forever) and a VERY good price.![]()

I'd give a vote for the L'Occitane Milk bar. Its big, and has Shea Butter, so not to be too drying. No real scent, other than clean.
I put a snurdle of gel on top of the soap bar to make a super-lather...![]()
