There's an auction on the 'bay right now for original plans for the Barbasol razor. Now how cool is that?

These drawings are of particular interest to me.
I have a very large old razor, in immaculate condition, which, just from pictures in the L-W Safety Razor Price Guide, I have assumed to be a Barbasol razor, but it doesn't have that nor any other name or markings on it at all.
With these design drawings I now know for sure that it is, in fact, a Barbasol razor. All the details are exactly what are shown on the drawings except that mine does not have the name stamped on it.
My only question now is; Did the manufacturing operation of stamping the name simply get missed on my particular razor or, did Scovill perhaps sell this same razor to someone else, to be retailed under a different tradename?
I'm certainly not interested in buying these engineering drawings for $199.99 minimum bid, but I'm very glad you called this aution to my attention, since it has gone a long way toward solving a "mystery" related to my collection.
Thanks again,
Tom
Well you are very welcome indeed.
I think I've seen a picture of the razor you mention, and it is a beauty. I'm delighted to learn that there's a mystery solved! Of course, you now have a new mystery to work out...
Here is a picture of the razor. This is a big guy . . . he's 3-13/16" long overall.

Tom
Well, I did it. I shaved with this big guy this morning. I am impressed.I got a virtually perfect shave the first time I used it. I really like that huge handle and with that head, there is no blade overhang at all, yet it was very easy to handle the blade loading, due to the shape of the ends of the head, allowing you a place to hold the blade.
This razor was really well designed. I certainly haven't shaved with it for the last time. I think the next few days are going to be Barbasol week.

Tom
According to Cutting Edge's post #8 on this thread from about a year ago . . . http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?p=519005
my razor is of the non-floating blade design. Arik seems to favor the floating blade version. I certainly like the shave I got from the one I have, but I'll be on the lookout for a specimen of the floating blade varient after reading that old thread.
I really needed another razor to be on the watch for.

Tom
