I've been lurking for a few weeks reading threads thinking about a good brush Rooney or a top Simpson or Shavemac or how come his prices are so low?

Ive made several purcahses off him from here in the UK, I plug him on B&B because I have not found anybody cheaper and that is because he is not primarily a specialist mens shaving retailer relying on a heavy mark up on brushes for profitability that it seems some US retailers rely on. Maybe he 's not that greedy, maybe he gets a better deal from Vulfix who knows.
His website isn't the best so give him a mail or call and get a price...even with shipping it'll be cheaper.

I would say that Simpson chubby 1 best or super are both very fine brushes
and make great purchases at these prices. Check the forum for opinions but for someone just starting out on the DE path you won't go far wrong and probably save yourself from several extra purchases.

I assume that the site is diamondedgeltd.com? You never list it in your post. Might you be able to convince the owner to post here, as well?

The site is not listed on the post because the Simpson brushes are not listed on the website...diamond edge will deal with each order on an individual basis until he gets some stock in. The agreement was made with his Vulfix supplier about...9 hours ago. Nothing sinister there friend.

As for the owner posting personally, lets just say that hes a classic retailer of particular generation and the thought of a shaving forum does make his head spin. He doesn't know me from adam other than I email him about his shaving products and prices and I plug him because he's cheap maybe the cheapest...thats it. I have certainly encouraged him to try the Simpson line because I knew he would be cheap and that is good for all B&B members.

Just to add the receipt I received from my last order was hand written...like I said a retailer of a particular generation.

Nor is anything sinister suggested. You just mention a website in two separate posts without listing one. I know that I personally prefer to look online for site reviews before I order from a vendor I've never used, whether or not what I'm about to order is listed on the vendor's site. I'd like folks to be able to do due diligence if they'd like. There's a modicum of secrecy to your posts that, I will admit, may raise red flags for some. If this is indeed the deal you believe it to be (and I've no reason to believe that it isn't), it'd be good for folks to have as much information as possible. That's all. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I didn't mean to seem particularly secretive...having delt with this guy a few times chances are he will never get round to updating his website and it is unfortunately a poor but inaccurate reflection of the service he provides. I didn't want members to be put off by that.
I will admit I did not purchase anything from him until he had answered a few emails and yes members should exercise due diligence which is why I recommended other forms of communication on my post. I would suggest you email him with as many questions as you like until you feel comfortable.

just wanted to add my thoughts here

this is the same place i got my Vulfix 404 'The Grosvenor' Badger/Boar brush after reading about it on B+B and have since recommended both the brush and the retailer, to antdad among a few.

both the customer service and the price made for an excellent transaction

    this'll just make me poorer

    Myself.

37 pounds ($55 and change), including shipping to Texas. Seriously, can't be beat.

Hmm ... an eccentric purveyor of shaving kit ... with a website that is grossly inaccurate ... just give him a call instead and he'll get what you want ...

... this guy obviously read the "How To Do Business the QED Way" book ...

(Seriously, though, you guys keep us posted on customer service & how the orders turn out, eh?)
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

Dude! I just spewed a little cheeseburger on my monitor.

    That was magnificently well-played.

I just received an order from this vendor and while it did take a while to get here(not the vendors fault), the product was well packaged and it was a great deal for the items(a couple Vulfix brushes). Now I am just waiting for the Simpsons that are on their way to me - couldn't pass up the great prices.

Got my Commodore X2 today. Final tab was $51.80 shipped from Brighton to Dallas.

    Good deal all around.

I would only mention that they do Registered mail with Signature required, so if you work you will end up having to make an early morning trip to the Post Office to sign for it. But for about $40 off it is a relatively small thing.

Thinking I might as well get a Duke 3 while they're cheap.

Chubby 1 Best and a Polo 8 Best arrived today. I personally like these better than the pre-vulfix Duke 2 I had (and sold). These brushes look like keepers, especially for ~$190 for both.

A partial lineup, from left: Rooney 1/1 Super, Rooney Heritage Alibaba 1, Simpson Polo 8 Best, Rooney Heritage Emillion, Rooney Heritage Stubby 2, Simpson Chubby 1 Best.

The Simpson brushes have not been used yet, so no bloom.

Do the new Vulfix-made Simpsons have better labels or do they still need to be sealed?

I got a new Vulfix-made Simpson Duke recently and the label's still on. I didn't seal it and it's been used a dozen times at least.

For the original poster's question, I would suggest either a Rooney Heritage Stubby2 or a Simpson's Chubby2....both brushes are quite nice.
