    Default New razors!

Just wondering what should I expect from my new '58 Gillette TV Special and '66 Slim Adjustable. I currently use a Progress and I'm wondering how they compare in aggressiveness to them, are they more aggressive or less aggressive? I got them both on eBay for $22 for the set, can't wait to get them!

If they're in good condition then you got an excellent deal.

I've not used a Progress (or even many Merkurs, for that matter) but the general consensus seems to be that Gillettes are more mild than Merkurs. I have found SuperSpeeds to deliver comfortable shaves; perhaps not the closest but well presentable and rarely accompanied by irritation.

They look like they're in fairly good condition, I've only seen them in pictures. I'm glad to hear they're mild shavers, that whats I was looking in a razor.

Wow man- what a steal and a deal!

I have a '58 TV but have yet to use it. I really don't think there is any difference to other SS of the 50's, other than the knurling on the handle. And the SS of the 50's are not considered to be near the shave quality of those from the '40s. I will say that many people who use both classic Gillettes and newer DEs- the Progress is the only one to constantly make the list of the newer DEs.

The Slim Adjustable is a bit more graceful than the Progress for me. It's lower-profile head really helps. It's easier to hold as well.

I know I didn't answer your real question about aggressiveness, but that's the best I can do this early before running out to work.

    Cheers.

When you first use the adjustable start on a low setting. I'd say nothing more than 3-4.
