I personally think that you should spend for shampoo what you spend for a good quality shave soap. I use MGA (Max Green Alchemy) but the Whole Foods house brand shampoo is decent also, and much less money.
American crew daily shampoo runs 10 bucks at my shop which is not that much more than garnier, looks great in your bathroom, and has a good clean scent. It is actually what i use on most of my damaged hair women in my salon accompanied by the daily conditioner (which leaves a tingly feeling on the scalp) It actually made out of better stuff than herbal essances.
Note:
Most people do not realize that you should shampoo twice. on the first shampoo you have alot of build up and its hard to lather so you use more shampoo. You should actually use a penny's worth on the first go over and just rub across the outer hair no lather then rinse. The next round you will notice that it takes maybe a half a penny's worth to make a huge lather.
Also when you find american cew, redken, etc at retailers like kroger and walmart it is usually more expensive than at the salon
