Default eightysixCJ's Entry into the B&B Hall of Fame

Please allow me to introduce myself:

    Username:

    eightysixCJ

    What is your real name?
    Tom

    What are your nicknames/aliases?
    None worth mentioning

    Where do you live?
    Brooklyn, NY

What is your age (or) generation?
    Low 40's

What is your favorite shave setup?
Well I'm brand new to wet shaving but what I'm enjoying so far:

Gillette Superspeed (1954), My granddad's found recently in the basement with some of his old tools.
    Trumpers Sandalwood Soap
    Feather Blades
A classic Badger Brush from a friend
Finished off with Saint Charles Sandalwood Aftershave Splash

What are your hobbies and favorite activities?
Fun times and road trips with my family, fishing; surf and fly for trout, tying flies, hunting ducks from a Long Island grassboat over my hand carved decoys, BBQ and slow cooking my own in the cooker I built with a cherry-wood fire, working with wood and metal, shooting bullseye pistol matches, sailing, wooden boats, hunting for fossils and antiques, raw oysters, Macallan Single Malts, Excalibur No. 3's and other good maduro cigars.

What else should the members of B&B know about you?
Carrying on traditions and making the most of life.
Working on 1986 Jeep CJ, it has a lot less rust than when I started and it gets me where the fun is.

WELCOME TOM! Hunting ducks from a grassboat and using your own hand carved decoys, sounds like a lot of fun. Glad to have you aboard.

Hi Tom and welcome!! I'd love to see you post a couple photos of your carved decoys. Marinated duck breast strips, spiraled and wrapped in bacon on the grill is one of my favoites.

    Hi Sue,

Sorry for the late reply, I did not have any recent photos handy. That sounds delicious (anything wrapped in bacon and grilled is great). Mind sharing your marinade recipe?

These are part of my bay rig. Black cork bodies with cedar heads and glass eyes. I gave my rig a fresh paint job just prior to this season and I need to repaint the bills on the mallards but the ducks did not mind.

Great photos Tom, you do nice work! The secret marinade is just Italian dressing :). Cut the duck breasts into fairly uniform slices and cover with the dressing. Let it marinate overnight. The next day, drain, roll the slices into pinwheels, end up with bacon on the outside. Use long toothpicks to keep them together. They should end up about the size of a filet mignon. Sear over red hot coals and move to the other side of the grill to continue cooking til done. Melts in your mouth they are so tender.
