Default Am I in denial or have I succumbed to a previously unknown xxAD

Some of you may have seen this thread. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=75029

I keep telling myself that just because I had problems last time, it doesn't mean I'll have problems this time.

The basic need hasn't changed. I still "need" a shaving bowl.

Reviews of the Georgetown Pottery Shaving Scuttle were stellar.

    It's only $42.

    I can order online.

    They ship to my door.

Is there really such a thing as a scuttle acquisition disorder? Nah couldn't be.

It gets kinda foggy now.....the last thing I remember is a submit button. Suddenly there is a new message in my inbox. A receipt for something I ordered online.....how did that happen??

This happens to me more times than I'd ever like to admit to my wife!

You know, one of the classic myths about wetshaving is that it is cheaper than shaving with a cartridge. That myth would be true if I could shave with just one razor, use just one soap (or cream), and get by with only one kind of aftershave. Because of all my various ADs, I spend FAR more on shaving, now, than I ever did before.

The only upside is that shaving has become a beloved hobby, instead of a necessary (and painful) evil.

No use in trying to fight it, 40. You'll only make yourself miserable.

Post pics of that scuttle when it comes in!!!

Where exactly is the fun in that?
The accumulated goo of all their five bladed cartridges and gel
will foam up about their waists and all the scruffy and unkempt will look up
and shout "Shave us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No."

    Default xxAD Support Group?

Does anyone know of an xxAD support group in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area?
Seems that once one gets the bug, they can't stop.

Have my next 2 razors on order and I still want more.

Maybe I need to block the BST?

But all of the discretionary spend (ie. above the single soap/cream, razor, aftershave & blade) is "want" rather than "need" - the shaving itself is cheaper - it's the hobby aspect that's the pocketbook-killer

As long as we keep our spending in line with what we can afford, there's nothing wrong with an AD or two...or three...or...(sigh).

The main thing is that by getting away from cartridges, we have more freedom to explore our options with razors and blades - each of us can customize our shave gear to our personal needs/tastes/whims.

When I joined a week ago yesterday, I had a Mergress razor, a Vulvfix 40 brush, Williams soap, soup bowl and Feather blades. I now have a 1956 Super Speed, a ‘30’s New Gillette, a 1940 gold Tech, 4 Aristocrats, a Sara Bonnyman bowl, Castle Forbes cream and ASB, TSD cream and ASB and a Shavemac 177 brush with a faux tortoise shell handle. Do I have a problem? Hell no. Paid cash for all of it.

Good lord, Doc. I had a similar experience, when I joined I had shaved with a Progress, a col conk (vulfix) travel brush and AOS soap for over 9 years, happy about it too.
Next thing I know, well, I'm in search of that perfect, all elusive combo and my bathroom is running out of space.

I use a bowl from Target .99 clearance........not ready to upgrade to scuttles yet......$1 versus $50....... dollar wins!!! gives me more $$$ to buy more razors......
