Default Please help me pick out a hair styling product.

Ok, a little bit about my hair and what I currently do with it. I usually have a pretty much shaved head. Recently I've been letting it grow out just a little more than usual, as my girlfriend swears it looks better that way. If some of you remember another recent thread of mine, I'm 21 and my hair line is receding.

Part of my method to make it not look as bad, is actually pushing my bangs sideways to make my hair line look straight. I have some pretty nice hair wax that a friend gave to me over a year ago, she worked in a hair salon and I got free stuff all the time. I didn't use it for a long time but lately I have. The thing I don't like about it, is that it works good for a while, but then it completely dries and it actually makes my hair looks dusty and dried out.

I'm a very simple guy. For a long time I refused to put any after products in my hair because I just don't like that "styled" looked. Ya know how some people have so much stuff in their hair that it looks like they just showered all day? Yeah I'm not a fan of that. Great for some people if they like it, but not for me.

So, I'm not doing anything fancy with my hair. Just a fairly strong hold to make my hair stick down (I have poofy hair) and enough strength to hold my bangs a little to the side. I don't mind if it makes my hair look like it has something in it, that's fine. However, I don't want anything that makes it hair or clumps the strands together, noooo

Money isn't a problem, as I don't want to waste my time on a prodct that only does a half ass job. However, let's be a little reasonable, and keep it less than 50 bucks.

Well, I have the same problem with poofy hair and wanting some sort of hold without it looking greasy, etc...

The best thing I have found is some stuff I got at Great Clips...it's the "solutions texturizing pomade" (white tea & ginger) in a silver canister with an orange/brown label. It's cheap, not more than 5 or 6 bucks.

After showering with hair still a little wet, I take a tiny amount--really not that much at all, think a quarter of a snurdle--rub it together in my palms and through my hair. That's it. Once your hair dries you can pat the hair down to remove any shine that might be there.

    Hope that helps.

    Default Definitely Kiehl's

My hair needs something to keep it down. I use Kiehl's Just out of the Shower Hair Gel or Kiehl's Cream with Silk Groom. Both are the best I've ever used.

Aveda men: try the clay for maximum hold. but if your on the thinner side i'd try something else.
I have a great large "jewfro" and the Aveda stuff can make me look like I work on wall st. Bonus the stuff smells amazing!

If you really want to stick it down try a wax. Paul Mitchell makes a spray wax and a hard wax that you could patch a roof with.

I recently upgraded to the Infusium23 line of hair-care products. Its hard to find in retail stores, but available all over the internet from vendors like Drugstore .com

Unlike most brands that are a shampoo + conditioner ... this is a three step process.

The third bottle contains a "leave-in treatment" that is not rinsed out, and it can be applied to either wet hair after the conditioner, or dry hair in-between showers.

I find it does a great job of keeping my hair in place. I sport a conservative hair-style that tends to go a little berserk roughly six weeks after a haircut. But I only get my hair cut about every three months, so products like this keep it looking good in the last half of each cut-cycle.

You can buy the #3 bottle separately, of course, and use it with whatever shampoo and conditioner you favor.

Redken rewind 06, can't live without it. Smells GREAT too.

Be a big enough man to go see a real stylist (NOT Supercuts!) and have him/her cut your hair properly and suggest some appropriate products for you.

you sound exactly like what style I prefer. Ive used them all my friend and these below are the best.

when you need a strong hold with a matte finish go with american crew fiber.
your hair will stay in place and it allows you to re adjust it with out reapplying. no dusty stuff here.

For a natural soft hold go with nancy boy styling cream. The girls love it when I wear my hair natural and soft with just a healthy shine soft hold.

Alright guys. I went with the American Crew Fiber. It sounded like what I wanted and it was on the shelf at Kroger when I was grocery shopping today. Hopefully it will turn out to be what I want.

    Thanks for your help folks.

Thats funny I actually was using mine today with amazing results as usual.

In fact im almost out so Ill need to go out tomorrow morning and get another jar or puck thing.

I find it helps best to use this on dry or lightly damp hair. A little goes a long way just rub it in your hands to heat it up and style. After that I sometimes rub a little on my finger tips and apply like in a spot section type of manner if you will.

The daily shampoo they have is also great, its made of natural ingredients. It has a nice clean scent and cleans with out drying.

Beware this fiber will give you some truly great looking hair.

Let us know how this works for you, would be great to get an honest mans feedback.

Will let you know for sure. Isn't it funny how you seem to get all warm and fuzzy when someone tells you that you were right about something?
