Default Shave Den soaps - opinions?

I love the scent of Shave Den pink grapefruit cream (a thread elsewhere reminded me how delicious this stuff smells). But I've never used TSD soaps and there are no reviews and our hideous search engine wont let me use "den" as a term! So, how is it?

You can always use google search to search any site. Go advanced and use the domain name www ............ com and get what you need.

Adding a "site:www.blah.com" term on the main search page also works (e.g. "site:badgerandblade.com .... soaps")

    Hi Mike,

Of the many small vendors soaps I've tried, TSD soaps are among the best in performance. That group includes QED, Mamabear, HBS, and Giovanni. Only the product made by Colleen (TGQ) is rated a little higher than JoAnna's, in my opinion.

The soap JoAnna makes is a different animal than most, as is evident by just the looks alone. The texture is unlike others I've used, and it does take a little different technique for optimum performance. Once the proper method is discovered, the soap protects and lathers quite well.

There's a bunch of reviews to look over at TSD, and most are very positive. Heh, no, it's not just because it's the 'home' site.....it's because the stuff is pretty darn good.

Maybe order a sample or two and see for yourself,
    Martin

I can quit at any time that I decide to. Unfortunately, I have NO control over when (if ever) that decision might occur.

How about some picks of the soap and lather?

My bad. I need to make sure I have coffee in hand before logging in.

    Apologies to the OP.

No problem, I wasn't sure if it was filtered or not either.

Give them a try - they have a generous sample option. While you're at it, get a bunch of samples of their aftershave splashes. I'm totally in love with them overall. my faves so far (these all include allantoin) -

    Patchouli
    Sandalwood
Peppercorn (which actually smells more like cinnamon but it's really neat, kind of warming)
    Lime + menthol ("iced lime")
    Subzero (Uber-uber-uber chilling. very neat)

There are a ton of other flavors too, all at like 3 bucks each for a pretty good sized sample (i think it's a full ounce).

Of course coffee is filtered. If it wasn't you'd get all that brown stuff in your teeth!

I recently stated in another thread that this soap was inferior. I recently decided to give it another try. I purchased Cedarwood and Sandalwood.

The soap I tried over a year ago was not up to par. This time around, I found Cedarwood to be a good soap. The scent is pleasant and I got a good shave. The soap needed extra water but lathered well and yielded a good shave. The soap qualities remind me of Saint Charles Shave soaps. They need a little extra work but give a good shave.
