    Default Replating a gold razor

has anyone replated a gold razor? I'm not concerned if this lowers the value of the razor... I am not a collector, just a practitioner. I have a Gold Tech that I really like, but it could stand to be refurbished a bit. I'd like it to really shine.

    thanks

To be honest, it would probably be more cost effective to buy one with a brilliant shine than to replate the one you have.

I've gotten so many inquires about gold that I've ask the guy who send my stuff out to get me a price.
Minty gold techs are out there I have one.
Since the techs even the gold one were budget razors the gold plating is probably thinner then on the top of the line razor.
Any after market plating would be thicker then what Gillette used.
I can't buff through the nickel plating I have done on my parts and believe me I've tried. emery compound hold the part against the wheel for 10 seconds, it takes 30 to burn through.
Of course you should never use emery compound on a plated part, you should use red rouge on plated metal.

Mine shaves great. I like the way it looks. I just thought if I could gussy it up a little for a nominal price, I would look into it.

I will continue to shave with it as-is, and enjoy every stroke

    regards
