    Default Am I rushing it?

I have about two weeks of dedicated DE shaves under my belt now and things are looking pretty good. I'm using a Mergress and have not deviated from the minimal setting. Also, I have the beginner sampler pack from WCS and have found a happy spot with the Crystal blades although I haven't tried the Reds yet. I'm pretty comfortable with the way my neck is mapped out but still trying to perfect my lathering technique. Today's shave was not as comfortable with the Crystal and I'd like to know how many shaves I should expect from this blade.

I have never used Crystals but I change Derbys after three shaves and Feathers after two shaves. Blades are pretty cheap and there is no reason to push your luck.

I usually get 5-6 shaves out of a Derby Extra.

The # of shaves from a blade varies for me. I tend to be able to get 5-6 shaves from a Gillete Swede but only about 3-4 shaves from a Derby and Feather. Once you feel the blade begin to "tug" then it is probably time to switch it out.

This is exactly what I do. Every Sunday before Church weather the blade has been used 7 times or even only once (although I typically shave no fewer than 5 times per week)
