Exclamation Cella Crema da Sapone and Cella Crema da Barba All´Olio di Mandorla

    Ingredients are identical

BUT, Definitely smell like two different things.

I was comparing the two today.

One comes in the friendly 1Kg package.

Contents: Cocos Nucifera, Tallow, Stearic Acid,
    Potassium Hidroxide, Sodium Hidroxide, Aqua,
    Potassium Carbonate, Parfum.

The other comes in the neat red tub.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera, Tallow, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Aqua, Potassium Carbonate, Parfum.

The 1Kg Crema da Sapone smells almondey with a faint buttery note that makes it smell like sugar cookies.

The red tub Crema da Barba All´Olio di Mandorla has none of the buttery smell. It's slightly harder and has a sporty, chemically "soapy" smell that is not even similar to the Crema da Sapone.

I'm convinced they're different. Can anybody speak Italian and translate the names of both items?

    Roughly translated I think it means A whales . . .
Common sense is not so common anymore.

The box is 'soap cream extra extra pure' and the red tub is 'shaving cream [litt.: beard cream] with almond oil'. I too have wondered about the difference given the basic ingredients are the same, but I'm quite sure both shave equally well.

No, I think it means "Saint Diego". When in Rome.

Speaking of which, today is my last day with Cella (in the red tub) for the time being---I'm going through a small stash of almond soaps, and with my blade giving up I'm going to rotate to a different soap the day after tomorrow. But this Italian soap was delightful to shave with. There are two defects as far as I'm concerned: I dislike the scent, and the shaves could be closer. Cella makes my skin swell a little, making it feel very soft and smooth---but once I apply aftershaves this effect wears off, exposing a little remaining stubble. So I'm never as BBS as with other soaps and creams. Other than that, truly a great product I am glad to have tried.

The odd thing is that the red jar states all'Olio di Mandorla, meaning with Almond oil, but then almond oil isn't among the ingredients? Cocos Nucifera is coconut oil.

It makes your skin swell? In a bad way you mean? What's a good cream to get BBS with, how about Irisch Moos? Do you have hard water?

Our learned friend Marco has devoted much time and effort into discussing this exact topic. I think you can find it in the Reviews section.

Oh, and one more thing ... In before Marco!

He said it makes his skin swell. I have never experienced this with Cella and never have any issues getting a close shave with Cella.

This is exactly my opinion, too. Here is the translation: Cella, Crema Sapone Extra Extra Purissima = Cella, Cream Soap Extra Extra Pure and Cella, Crema da Barba all'Olio di Mandorla = Cella, Almond Oil Shaving Cream.

I realize that this is a bit late, but "almond oil" here refers specifically to the oil of the bitter almond, which is the primary fragrance of the soap (it falls under the category of "perfum") and not sweet almond oil saponified into soap.

There's no almond oil in the soap. The bitter almond scent is a synthetic parfum, most likely it contains a small amount of hydrogen cyanide, which gives the bitter scent of bitter almonds.
