Gems and Schicks

I am thinking about getting rid of my Gems and Schicks, or at least most of them. I am wondering how many of you that consider yourselves razor collectors, collect more than just Gillettes. I would keep some cooler ones, but am probably gonna sell the more common ones. I don't know, help me decide if I should or shouldn't

It really depends on how many you have I suppose. If it's one or two that's one thing, if it's a dozen that's a different story. If you have lots of the common ones that aren't in rotation and are not "collectable" whatever that means, then perhaps it makes some sense to pass them along. Someone else will use the razors, that's almost guaranteed.

I find myself in possession of a whole bunch of superspeeds that I don't use. I'll be cleaning them up and selling them. I'll be keeping one or two, but there's no point in accumulating razors that are "shave quality" that I don't use, when they can be enhancing someone else's life the way that the razors I do use enhance mine.

You should sell... for cheap... to me.

Seriously, Ontario said it perfectly. If you aren't getting joy from them, by using them or otherwise, chances are good someone else here will. Remeber, you're not just selling a razor, you're building a dream... or something like that.

I really don't get much enjoyment out of collecting them. I do like having the Kronas and some of the old merkurs and the injector I use sometimes, but other than that I don't enjoy collecting them like I do Gillettes.

You've answered your question I think. If I had one more piece of advice it would be to take your time in making your decisions though. You may find that a razor that today you think you'll never use becomes your favorite tomorrow. That's why I'm keeping an example or two of the superspeeds around.
