Question Have you ever worn a fragrance becuase others love it, even though you don't?

A while back I began wearing Crabtree & Evelyn's Nomad.

I don't mind this scent, but I must say that I am not really moved by it and I can same ten frangances (ranging from as cheap as $5.00 all the way to $150.00 that I like better). And I even like the other Crabtree & Evelyn scents a lot better. Sienna is awesome! And they also make a fin Sandlewood.

But my better half tried Nomad and said she loved it. So... I began wearing it (after she bought me some).

I wore it to work and low and behold I got 2 nice comments about it.

Then, my better half's friends said they liked it too.

Have you ever had this situation?

I don't really see a problem until you actually stop wearing it and explain why. Then the fun will begin.

And no, I wear stuff strictly for myself. I don't roll a lot of jewelry or other affectations so a little private fun with cologne is one of my few fashion vices. If others like it, then that's gravy, I guess.

Yeah, but in a different way.
Never having had a sense of smell, I really HATE having fragrances on, for the most part.
Knowing someone else can smell me makes me paranoid, oddly enough. Plus, sometimes I get a "whiff" (either a taste or a different type of detection from a different set of nerves) of something and I hate the sensation because it's the same for poop, fire, cologne, skunk, or baking cookies. I can't usually tell what it is; could be me, could be the fire in the kitchen, could be the load I stepped in crossing the lawn.

Still, people who fully KNOW about that (spouses, family, close friends) have often bought me fragrances that I then felt obligated to wear. That's also bad because, if I've learned anything from you guys, one man's Old Spice is another's...well...Old Spice.
It takes one to be one.

No, because if that was the case we'd all be wearing Acqua di Gio and Cool Water.

My wife's opinion can tip the scale as to what I may wear on a particular day, but not to the point that I would wear something that I didn't like...

Nope. The closest I come to that is putting on something I'm not in the mood for. My GF sometimes walks in while I'm shaving and picks the kind of aftershave she wants me to wear, whether I'm in the mood for it or not.

If my wife tells me she likes the scent of ___ I would wear it, proudly.* Thankfully, we have the same likes in fragrance.

*Obviously, there are alternative motives and expectations.

Seems to me it's entirely your fault, it's your lack of bargaining that didn't push the relationship beyond the foreplay level....
And yes, I've worn many times a fragrance for somebody else, but I've also liked the fragrance to start with. Now my tastes have changed a bit, but I wouldn't hesitate to put those old ones back on for a special occasion(s) :)

Yes. Girlfriend likes Blue Label, and I am OK with that. I do not LOVE it (like I love Rive Gauche or Domenico Caraceni) but I feel confortable wearing it. Sorry y'all, but I am willing to trade atleast one SOTD for extra hugs and other forms of affection

    When I need some lovin'...

My wife loves the smell of Obsession. (Are there any women that don't like this juice?)

I am not overly crazy about it... especially for daily wear. Obsession needs something slightly more masculine in it.

    Maybe tobacco or gun powder?

If I don't like something, I don't wear it. The people that like it like it, and I don't screw around with the people that don't.

Back in the day, I wore Eternity in High School because I got a lot of nice comments. It wasn't pleasing to me though. I ditched it soon after I graduated.

Absolutely not! If I have to wear it all day, I deserve to enjoy it as well.
