Had someone ask me for men's dress shoelace clips (help keep them tied) I had never heard of them. Does anyone have any ideas?

May exist but I never heard of them. Sounds akin to the bacon stretcher I was sent to procure in Boy Scouts.
No clue here either, but welcome to B&B!

i have seen those, but mostly for kids, its a plastic clip that goes over the central knot thats left after you make a double bow tie on the shoelace, the idea is that it keeps the knot from coming loose from tugging on the bows by gripping the base of the bows exiting the central knot, but i´ve never seen them used by adults, i remember they were marketed directly at kids, they were tiger or crocodile shaped,

There are things you can not apologize for, the ability to carry the consequences for your actions is the mark of a true man,
A properly tied, double slippery reef knot does not open easily.
so, another topic for gentlemens essencials, the correct way to tie a knot on both your shoes, and tie (becuase just shoes might be a bit short)

Sounds like a good idea - let me know if you post that topic.
Half or full Windsor knot, unless it is a bow tie - then hand tied is a must. Bloody hard to find in NZ. Seems like Kiwis can barely tie a tie let alone a bow tie.
And as for shoes... half the kids at my daughter's school don't even wear shoes...
I had constant problems for years with my shoelaces coming untied on my dress shoes, until I found out that I had been tying them wrong since I was a kid. I was making my first half knot backwards. I saw it listed as a major reason shoes come untied in a book of knots I was reading while learning to sail.
Very seldom have a problem now. You would think I would have learned this at some point in my youth, but it had never even occurred to me that there could have been a difference - they look almost the same.
No idea how to point out the difference, except that if you continued to pull the bows through a properly tied shoelace would turn into a square knot, while the improperly tied shoelace would turn into a granny.

Do you mean if you pull the ends through you end up with a square knot or a granny knot. If I pull the ends through, and that pulls the bows down my knots disappear.
My son ties his like this http://www.shoe-lacing.com/shoelace/betterbowknot.htm
and they almost never come undone.

I tie my shoes in what I guess is a regular bow knot. Then I take the bows and tie them once again and snug down. Works pretty well for me.

I started doing that one a few months ago and haven't had to retie my shoes during the day since! It's basically a square knot, but with each tail doubled over. I had a hard time trying to figure out a better way to tie, until I though of the square knot vs. granny knot problem.
The problem I had with that knot is that it stays as tight as when you tie it the whole day. That doesn't sound like much of an issue at first, but it really makes you aware of how much your feet swell and how loose your laces normally get during the day. I do love it though, just make sure to leave a little more slack than you're used to.
Limecat can never die!!! Unless he gets curious.

My wife used to have a collection of "bow biters" that she had when she was a girl. Did the same thing, would clip onto the bow to keep the shoe tied. But these were big ugly cartoonish things with faces that looked like they were biting the shoe string.
