Hey, they also give us tallow for shaving soap. Not to mention milk, ice cream, and all that good stuff.
I half suspected that might be the case. 
I do love my ostrich! Other than a couple of snakeskin boots, all of my boots have been calf skin or bull hide. A guy I worked with many years ago had a pair of elephant. Interesting grain, and according to him pretty tough. It would take a bit of getting used to the looks.
