U.S. vs. English made Gillette's ?

Other than the obvious, what are the main differences between the two origins of production ?
Styling on some models are slightly modified as well as the rodium plating on the #66. Is the overall quality known to be any different. I just bought a 50's S.S. flare tip rocket from a member, it is english made (rocket gave it away) Any info would be great !! Why did Gillette produce razors in England ?

The TTO design is a little different. Rockets' TTO knob is spaced apart from the handle and as you open the silo doors it moves up. With an American TTO Gillette the knob is stationary. Even more confusing is they made English "Super-Speeds", which worked exactly like the American counter parts. So there are actually "Flare Tip Super-Speeds", "Flare Tip Rockets", and "English Flare Tip Super-Speeds".

The end caps are another thing. Most American Gillettes have a center bar which moves to the outside, covered with "end caps". Most Rocket's have a solid center bar, which is attached to sold side pieces, so they do not have "end caps". You really have to look at two in front of you to see these types of differences.

In general the British versions are built to a better standard, and more hefty. There are exceptions.
