    Default Question re: Milord TTO mechanism

    So I received a Milord from an auction and I'm quite confident there is a serious problem with it, but wanted to check since I've never had one of these. It is my understanding that the Milord is a gold version of a superspeed and should operate in the identical manner. The one I received does not simply twist at the bottom and the doors open. Instead when twisted to open the twist nob slides down from the shaft revealing the interior cylinder. I then have to push the twist nob back up until it contacts the bottom of the handle to get the blade doors to actually open. I don't think this is how this is supposed to operate this way (I'm envisioning opening just like a SS where the twist nob stays stationary and the doors simply open as you twist). I just wanted to check before contacting the seller.

    Thanks

    Sounds like it's missing the left handed screw that prevents what's happening with your razor.

    Sounds like the retaining ring is shot. I had a couple razors that did that. Unfortunately there is no way to fix it. On the bright side, it will still lock down the blade correctly so you can shave with it safely and effectively.

    Bob could also be right about the screw.

    Alas, the problem with buying off eBay.

    The TTO knob on a Super Speed has an eternal retaining ring which holds it in place. It sounds like yours is shot. The razor will still work, but not as originally made. You must live with the defect.

    eBay = buyer beware

    Thanks for the info guys.

    Yes. It definitely screws down so is usable but loading a blade is a bit more of an operation at this point.

    I think such a patent defect needs to be disclosed by a seller. That goes beyond caveat emptor into outright misrepresentation. I'm going to try to get a price reduction. We'll see how it goes.

    I did but have never had to use the dispute process. I'm hoping we can just work it out without having to go that route. We'll see.
