I purchased this EDT about a year ago and have worn it from time to time, but today I wore it and had lunch with 4 of my female friends and was told that I smelled like a 65yr old man. Im depressed.

Strange - I don't think there is anything "old man" about that scent. For me it's more like a party vacation to mexico sipping pina colada's fragrance.

Honest opininion here but the stuff dries down to a single clove note and the only people that love clove that much are the 65 year women plugging their hams with it. Dont get me wrong....the initial blast is nice but to me ....bayrum is much more intricate than just clove.
Most women have NO sense of style about fragrance. Their process is buy anything OTHER than what their mothers wore or to slavishly buy whatever Oprah and Victoria's Secret tells them too. Most women have no sense of history of fragrance, no independent curiosity or skill set required to judge fragrances and culture. That's why a majority of reviewers on Basenotes are men.
My 65 year old mentor wears Bond No. 9 and my 40 year old brother wears Old Spice. My best friend's 12 year old swears by Axe and my 20-something students wear nothing.
Unless you are sleeping with them and feel your choice in fragrance might affect that pay NO attention to what ANY women says about your choices. They are making it 100% about them and not you. Which shows how much they are missing the point.
"Well, if we took the bones out it wouldn't be crunchy, would it?
Well, I'm 28 and can't seem to pull off bayrum with a twist or old spice, but some how I'm able to use skinbracer with reckless abandon and never catch any flack. I guess I'm just not a bayrum kind of guy![]()

My current go to has been Guerlain Vetiver. My wife and sister in law say the same thing - I smell like a grandpa. But my thought is this - hey, they dont have to smell me all day, and I do. So I wear stuff that I like.![]()
I've gotten great comments from females wearing Bay Rum and Old Spice.
I didn't wear cologne for a few years and I would get the occasional "You smell good, what are you wearing?". Must just be my natural manliness or they like the combo of Speed Stick and Listerine.
