When you speak of a BBS...

Hiya,

When you talk of a BBS, are you talking about when you feel your beard area with the grain or against the grain?

I can get a BBS if you are talking about feeling the beard area with the grain.

But getting a BBS against the grain, I can get that too, but I'm getting razor bumps. My shaves have been improving recently.

I heard it said that you're better off leaving the remaining 5% alone. It's when you "go for broke", you get into trouble.

I would assume everyone has his own oinion of what BBS actually feels like, but I think it really refers to what a baby's butt actually feels like -- smooth as silk. That's what is probably meant by achieving a BBS shave. When your fact is THAT smooth, you've achieved BBS status. Personally, I seem to get an extremely good shave every day. Is it BBS? Well, as far as I'm concerned it is. Even going against the grain there's either no or very little resistance.

I'm sure that's not as definitive as you'd like, but I'll bet you'd get ten opinions from 9 responses!

You can use the BBS term any way you want. But for me, I mean that, feeling my face in all directions, all the shaven part is smooth---with, against, or across the grain. With good technique and much practice, you can bet BBS without bumps, I believe. YMMV.
