Could I use Aloe Vera as an Aftershave?

I was just thinking- I am suffering from minor acne and possibly razor irritation on my neck. I have worked my way through the sampler pack, my favorite being Swedish Gillette, until I tried the feather. I think this could really help out. But the question is- do i have to use an aftershave, or could I simply put pure aloe Vera on my neck and face? Thanks-

You don't have to use aftershave if you don't want to do so.

Aloe is very good at soothing the skin as are many of the balms available.

You might also try a product that has both aloe vera and witch hazel. Witch hazel helps close the pores. There are several brands on the market but persoally I use one that's inexpensive and readily available called Witch Vera from the Jason company. You can find it at most health food stores and I've used it every time I shave for quite a while. It seems to last quite a while and I really like it. You might, too.

The only rule is that you need to enjoy your shave and be satisfied with it. Have fun and find what works for you!

I got some 100% Aloe from 'Holland and Barrett' health store. Use it after every shave justto help ease my neck. Not bad either! Though this particular product does dry and leave an odd 'second skin' if applied too thick.

JASON makes some very good gels with aloe and withch hazel, as well as aloe, witch hazel and tea tree oil.

Cheap, cooling/soothing and very nice on the skin.

Aloe Vera 80 calms down any irritation I may have. I use it after every shave.

Mmm you should throw in 1 part tea tree oil and 2 or 3 parts lavender oil. Both very good for toning and cleansing the skin and tasty too!

Not a bad idea...to think of it.
I use a lot of products from www.melaleuca.com and their base ingredient is tea tree oil.
I had been holding off on any other additions because I enjoy the scent of the brew as-is.
Tea tree oil is very aromatic...eucalyptus-y.

I've used aloe vera with lidocaine as an aftershave for the past 3 years with great success. It's the stuff that you find every summer next to the sunscreen and tanning stuff. It's still about 75% full and like I said, I've had it for about 3 years. I'm always left feeling fresh, soothed, and never greasy.
