    Default Art of Shaving soaps

Despite its high price I'm curious enough about this soap that I may order it. It seems to get high reviews and I may try it. Is the scent from this soap about the same as other hard soaps? I really like Harris lavender for example but its scent is very muted to me so I'd like something that is a little stronger. If you have used this soap let me know what scent you use and how you like it. Thanks

AOS Lavender was my first soap a few years ago before I switched to D/E. Now I have loads of soaps and still think this is one of the best. It will always be a part of my rotation.

The scent of the AOS soaps is more pronounced than the Harris lavender or almond. I have the AOS sandalwood and it smells very nice. The AOS lavender should have more of a lavender smell than the Harris. To me, the Harris has a clean, soapy smell with a bit of lavender while the AOS has a more recognizable lavender scent.

I'm not a fan on how the AOS company is run but they do have quality soaps.

AOS soaps all have a earthy/organic/tallow smell mixed in with whatever essential oil (sandalwood, lavender, or lemon). I have a puck of the unscented which still has the earthy/organic/tallow scent sans lavender, sandalwood, or lemon. I haven't had a chance to try the lemon, but the sandalwood and lavender are absolutely heavenly. AOS soaps are an essential items in my shave den, (desert island stuff) they simply outperform every other product I have tried.

Like you, I too was leery about the AOS company (I have only tried their soap) and the high price of a puck. After trying this soap, there was no going back. Give it a shot, if you don't like these pucks sell like hot cakes in the B/S/T. On The Fly sells all four flavors for the standard $26 with free shipping!

Like others have posted, I love the AOS Sandalwood soap..I also love the Sandalwood ASB...The asb is heavy, but it's just the ticket for my dry skin in the winter months...My only complaint with AOS products are that they are overpriced.

Thanks to all the enablers who replied. I went ahead and ordered the lavender from On the Fly. With the shipping included its still pricey but not that much more than some other high end soaps. I've been looking for a good lavender and hope this is it. thanks

Anyone know of any (online) stores that sell AoS and accept pay pal?

The AOS sandalwood is one of my favorite scents and I think it is the best sandalwood scent I have come across. The soap itself is very good, lathers easily, slick and does not dry out my skin. I think you make good choice with lavender, which I want to get when I get some room to place it somewhere.

Odd man out here. I don't care for AOS shaving soaps. Their performance does not justify their price.

I really like the AOS soap. I love the Sandalwood. I find it to be a very nice soap with lots of residual slip.

I have had my eye on some AOS soap for a while. I've held off so far because (a) it's expensive, (b) I haven't liked any other AOS product I've ever tried, (c) I find AOS irritating in general, and (d) there are enough other untried soaps out there to keep the me busy for quite some time.

The sad truth, however, that I know I'll probably end up pulling the trigger on some AOS soap at some point. The siren song is just too powerful.

It is expensive, and if cost was an issue, it doesn't really peform any better than tabac; in fact, Tabac still has a slight peformance advantage in my book. I do think the AOS Sandalwood soap performs better than many of the other higher cost soaps I've tried, though.

    Thumbs up

I have AOS Sandalwood SS. Pricey but worth it. It's an all around great soap.
