    Default Patrick McGoohan 1929-2009

OMG. I'm so sad about this. He was the greatest.

Oddly enough, I just recieved in the mail today, the first episodes of THE PRISONER from Netflix. I haven't seen the show in ages and was looking forward to watching them again.

    Secret Agent Man, rocked.

    RIP, Pat.

Patrick McGoohan's performance as King Edward The Longshanks from Braveheart will always stick out more than any other performance of his, at least for me. He will be missed.

Sorry, in my haste, I mispelled his last name. I'm such a dork.

The Prisoner is my absolute favourite TV show of all time. This is sad news. Be seeing you, Patrick.

    This is very sad news.

I first saw him in Braveheart and later watched The Prisoner, he was a really brilliant actor.

I watched The Prisoner as a child during the 60s, and as a man when the series was broadcast again in the 90s. I have to confess, I think I understood it better when I was a kid!

+1 That performance made me "hate" the English. Not really, but it was an astonishing performance and made up for some of the other bits of the movie that I did not like.

I finished watching The Prisoner only a week ago. I absolutely loved it. The last four episodes were absolutely awful. Overal, it was still quite good. I feel like I know McGoohan so well from watching the series...

What a loss. If you liked his performances in Braveheart and the Prisoner, then check out his performance in 1977's The Man in the Iron Mask. Star studded to say the least, he was absolutely perfect as the cruel and corrupt Fouquet. The cast was all star. Richard Chamberlain as Phillipe, Ralph Richardson as Colbert, Ian Holm, Jenny Agutter, Louis Jordan as D'Artagnan, and others. Just fantastic. It may sound like a cliche but they just don't make actors like they used to.

    Regards, Todd

Just for reference, he starred in a couple of excellent episodes of Columbo with the equally great Peter Falk. Talk about a meeting of the minds. He also directed a couple of quite good, and more surreal than normal, Columbo's.

He was also effortlessly good as the bad guy on the train in the classic Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor feature "Silver Streak."

Your starter for 10. How did he die in "Silver Streak?"

    Hint: It was freakin' cool.

As best as I can remember, he got turned into a grease slick while leaning or falling out the side of The Silver Streak while passing close to another train coming the opposite direction. I think I remember Gene Wilder make a gallant gesture of trying to shield Jill Clayburgh's view of it. He was a really good bad guy in that movie.

I also remember seeing him in a sci-fi movie called Scanners. I loved the Prisoner.
