Default ClassicShavings new "Cobra Classic" razor

One of my Christmas gifts was the new "Godzilla" single edge safety razor from Classic Shaving. The razor is designed to use Feather Professional single edge blades.

I'm told that they intend to call it "The Cobra Classic" when they put it in their catalogue within the next few weeks.

Although I've never used a straight razor, I've been using a Mercur 37C Slant for the past year or so, so making the transition to the Cobra Classic was relatively painless (so to speak!).

I posted a review in the appropriate area.

Wow, an injector on steroids! Interesting......is it stainless, plated brass, or what?
I guess the head is wider than a standard injector?

Scott, you beat me to it. I would like to know the answers to those questions as well. So no more fiddling with Feather blades to fit them in the Injector razors.

It's stainless, with a wide head. The Feather Professional blade fits perfectly, with no trimming needed.

    Thanks. Good review, BTW.

Looks a little scary, but I may I have to give it a spin if not too costly....

I'm off to check the review and possibly restart RAD

$125?!?! I think RAD was just cured.

Looks nice from the outside or the back, but the inside looks kinda cheap. $125? I don't know about that, but you never know.

Aesthetically, the razor does not warrant the price tag. The back of the razor looks a little rough. A nicer EJ can be had for 2/3 the price.

My understanding is that although it uses the feather blades (which come in an injector-type dispenser), they are not "injected" into the razor. So I dunno if it's technically an "injector".

IMHO, that's correct. When reloading, I must manually lay the blade in the razor.

I'd like to see some pics on how you load the thing. Doesn't look to be that safe since those feather blades are a lot narrower than a DE blade.

For the price, remember this is a unique razor - nothing else like it on the market - so they can charge what people will pay!

Ken, thanks for the review. The razor has been added to my wish list.

Can you post a better picture? The one headlining the review is too small to make out any detail. And Classic Shaving doesn't seem to have it for me to look at there.

Mike - look at the top of this thread. There are a couple of extra large pics on my initial posting.

I suspect that it's not rough at all. It looks to me like fingerprints.

Correct - combined with a lousy photographer!

Wow, didn't think it would be that much.
Looks like they pretty much consider it in the same category as their Artist Club straights as opposed to a DE.
But if they are truly the only ones who have it then I guess they will see what the market brings.

It looks a little rickety-fit for $125 - for that price, they should have made it an injector or given it some better sort of loading mechanism.

You know what Barnum says about this sort of thing...

Interesting concept, but I think that Classic is just looking for another way to sell Feather blades (for which it is the sole authorized US retailer - at least that's my understanding) to guys who don't want to use a straight.
    Chris.
